Bryson DeChambeau is a short-price favourite for the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club this week, but the cocky Californian could be upstaged by Brandt Snedeker.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Betting Odds

Brandt Snedeker to win - BET NOW

While DeChambeau is making his course debut this week, Snedeker finished fifth in the inaugural PGA Tour event at DGC last year and can hit the ground running.

The former FedEx Cup champion has got nine PGA Tour titles under his belt – two of which have come at Donald Ross-designed tracks. The 2012 Tour Championship and the 2018 Wyndham Championship victories both came at layouts crafted by Ross and Snedeker has taken a similar shine to the one in Detroit.

Snedeker licks his lips when strutting on to poa annua greens, like those at DGC. His putting stroke is well suited to handling bumpy poa dancefloors, as underlined by two victories apiece at Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach.

Much like Webb Simpson, Snedeker devoted most of lockdown to looking after his family, most of his golf being played in the company of his young son.

Simpson and Snedeker both made shaky starts on their return to the Tour, but Simpson went on to win the RBC Heritage, and this week it may be Snedeker's turn to prove he has shaken off the lockdown rust.

With a world ranking of 50, the Nashville man is in danger of slipping outside the elite, with a 40th birthday looming in December. Events on suitable terrain like DGC are crucial for Snedeker to maintain his status in the sport.

Snedeker's career took off in this region – his first Nationwide Tour victory in 2006 came in nearby Minnesota – and his latest trophy could come on Sunday.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Prediction

Will Gordon to win - BET NOW

Punters looking for a bigger price should consider former college star Will Gordon, who made a courageous birdie at the final hole of the Travelers Championship on Sunday, stiffing a wedge after a massive drive.

That glorious finish meant he tied for third place, banking a cheque for $436,600 and securing Special Temporary Membership of the PGA Tour.

The 23-year-old, who carded a 64 in the company of Jon Rahm on Sunday, has transformed his career and shown incredible guts. He could ride the crest of the wave in Detroit. Gordon has impressed in his previous PGA Tour sponsors invites, with tenth place in the RSM Classic last November another bold effort.

Viktor Hovland - Top European Player - BET NOW

Viktor Hovland delivered a dead-heat winner for top European in the Travelers Championship last week and the ever-improving Norwegian could be worth following again in the same market for the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Hovland, who won his maiden PGA Tour title in the Puerto Rico Open in February, is a former US Amateur champion with the world at his feet.

He has returned from lockdown with form figures of 23-21-11 and should be a serious factor in Detroit if he can find a way to warm up his putter. The cheerful 22-year-old closed with a 64 for 13th place there last year.
