A wash out last week to say the least, 4 out of 5 tips made the weekend just about then really flattered to deceive over the weekend where they all struggled putting a low round together.
A low ranked field that was eventual beat by the best player in the field by a margin, Tony Finau. Tony is enjoying a really consistent run of tournaments and was trending nicely going into the week. 4 birdies on the spin when the leader at the time Scott Piercy is faltering led Finau into a commanding position heading into his last 3 holes. Which led to a 3 shot victory for Tony.
Rocket Mortgage Classic Betting Odds
Moving onto Detroit where players will compete for the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. The Rocket Mortgage Classic has ran on Tour since 2019 when it replaced the Quickens Loans on the PGA Tour Schedule.

A classic Parkland golf course the players will face this week where emphasis will be on their second shots and what they do on the greens.
Looking at the course map and from experience of watching the last 3 years, the course seems straight forward. Straight hole layouts and holes that seem long on paper but with the simplicity of them, the players make them look simple and can easily reach at least 3 of the 4 Par 5s in 2.
With hardly any water to contend with, wide fairways, the weather looking fair throughout the week. We should expect to see low numbers again this week just like we are used to seeing the last 3 renewals here at Detroit GC.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Field
A decent enough field this week to get our teeth into with 7 players from the top 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Best in the field ranking wise and the market favourite at 11/1 this week is Patrick Cantlay. Patrick lies at number 6 in the FedEx cup standings so far this year where he has enjoyed 9 top 10s, which included the win at the pairs event at the Zurich Classic where he partnered Xander Schauffele, and then he has had 2 2nd places and a 3rd. So, he is enjoying a very consistent season. He hits the ball straight and fairly long and his wedges and short game are sublime… apart from the slender odds this week, what’s not too like!
2 guys come next in the market as joint second favourites at 16/1. Last week’s winner Tony Fianu and young Will Zalatoris.
Finau’s wedge game last week was something to admire to go hand in hand with his slick scrambling skills, I never like to bet champs from the week before so I wouldn’t advise him this week but he may be able to ride the wave of confidence if he didn’t celebrate his first win of the season too hard!
Zalatoris is my pick out of these 2 guys at 16/1. He is getting better and better everytime I see him and his Off The Tee game is forever improving. If the much talked about putting stroke holds up, his wedges are too good too ignore on a course like this.
The field and odds kind of spreads here as the field gets weaker pretty quickly. So, there is just 6 players between Zalatoris and the 35/1 mark… yes you read that right! These are; Cam Young 18/1, Max Homa 25/1, Cam Davis 33/1, Adam Scott 35/1, Kev Kisner 35/1 and Davis Riley 35/1.
Pick of this bunch has to be Max Homa and Kevin Kisner.
Kevin Kisner firstly at 35/1, this guy is an out and out horse for this course. He hits it straight, he hits greens for fun and he is consistently one of the best putters year in year out on Tour.
He has had an up and down season to say the least, going through 4 straight missed cuts starting at the At&t Byron Nelson. But since, has had a T6 at TPC River Highlands a place that he loves (has the same grass type on the greens too) and a T21 at the Open Championship where your wedge game is tested to its max.
When looking at the SG: Putting leaderboards for the last 6 renewals of both the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Travelers Championship, Kev shows up in the top 15 4 times, he loves that Poa/Bent mix on the greens. With a 46-3-8 record here in the 3 renewals ther is plenty to like here.
Max Homa is the second guy from this range I like at 25/1, short odds for Max yes but this guy is a stud, both on and off the course. He is enjoying probably the best year of his career to date.
5 tops including 2 wins and a bunch of Strokes Gained stats that catch the eye, his profile fits the bill here once more this week. He hits the ball an average of 305 yards on Tour and has pretty good Accuracy stats to go with it meaning his Total Driving stats are much better than the Tour Average.
A killer at Par 5s also, ranking 8th for Birdies or Better on them this season, I am certain he can better his best finish here of 25th place last year.
We then come to the 40/1 where there is a tonne of guys to pikc from! Mav McNealy and Sahith Theegala pinch it for me at this range.
At bigger odds in the market some guys that caught my eye are as follows… Jhonattan Vegas 75/1, Danny Willet 90/1, Michael Thorbjornsen 110/1 and Matt Wallace at 150/1.
