The tournament known as the ‘fifth major’ takes place this week when the richest purse in golf is on offer at the Players Championship at Sawgrass, Florida.
The total prize money is a whopping $12.5m as the tournament returns to its more traditional March date, from May last year, and here our expert Nick Harris takes us through the golf betting.
The Yorkshireman was desperately unlucky not to pick up the winner’s trophy last time out at the Arnold Palmer Invitational after a great weekend, where he was only undone by a brilliant round of 64 by Open champion Francesco Molinari.
The 24-year-old from Sheffield had much the worse of the conditions compared to the Italian, who finished earlier in the day, and with the greens getting firmer all day the job of chasing Molinari down became an impossible task.
But he will take renewed confidence into this weekend and with the experience of Billy Foster on the bag, he looks a good golf tip to add to his five European wins with his first on the PGA tour. The Stadium Course at Sawgrass demands precision as well as a sure touch on the greens - and the former US Amateur Champions has both.

Things finally look to be improving for one of the most gifted golfers on the circuit and he was in contention throughout last week to retain the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but his final round cost him again and he had to be content with a share of sixth spot.
That was actually his worst finish of the season so far although he is happy with the way things are building in his game and he believes his golf is good. McIlroy says the switching of the event back to this month should help him.
"I'm excited for its move to March, I love the look of the golf course already, the over-seeded grass - everything looks so much more green and lush," he said.
The former world number one is picking and choosing his events due to ongoing health issues and he did not to play at Bay Hill last week, where he has eight wins to his name, but he is ready to go in Florida. Woods says his neck is now pain-free and his putter is in control.
“I feel good about both,” he revealed. “The putting feels so much better as I feel better, it kind of goes hand-in-hand. We are all going to have patches where we don’t putt well, and patches where we make everything."
Woods has not finished out of the top 20 in his three starts this year although he has not been closer than eight shots off the winner.
