The cream of women's golf will be in Adelaide this week, for the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open. It promises to be another fascinating tournament, especially with the extra incentive of trying to qualify for this year's Olympic tournament in Japan.

The Australian Open is one of just two national championships on the LPGA Tour this season and a number of the world's best players will be staking their claim to play at the Kasumigaseki Country Club in Tokyo in August.

There has been just one home winner of this event in the last 11 years and the overseas contingent look strong ahead of Thursday's opening round.

Women's Australian Open Betting Odds

Minjee Lee - Outright Winner @ 7/1 - BET NOW

American Nelly Korda is the defending champion, after a two-shot win in 2019 - but that was at the Grange Golf Club and this year's event returns to the Royal Adelaide track.

Korda is around 9/1 to retain the title, but her form has been mixed in her opening two tournaments of the year and there looks to be better value elsewhere.

Minjee Lee looks set to head into the tournament as the favourite, after showing some good form in recent weeks. The Australian was tied-sixth at last week's ISPS Handa Vic Open - just two shots behind the eventual winner, Hee Young Park.

She was T15 in this event last year but, perhaps more significantly, she was tied for third the last time the tournament was held at the Royal Adelaide course, in 2017.

Women's Australian Open Outsider Tips

Hannah Green - Outright Winner @ 35/1 - BET NOW

Hee Young Park goes into this week's event seeking back-to-back titles, after collecting the winner's cheque at the Vic Open last week.

After her play-off success in Victoria, the South Korean will go into the Adelaide tournament full of confidence and looks a big price at around 66/1.

For those punters eyeing a home success this week, Hannah Green is another who offers good value at 35/1.

The 23-year-old recorded a top-10 finish (T7) last time this tournament was held at Royal Adelaide - finishing five shots behind the winner, with a third-round 76 scuppering hopes of success.

But Green shown some good form last week, with a T-11 finish, and should be there or thereabouts on Sunday.

Women's Australian Open Prediction

Hye-Jin Choi - Outright Winner @ 16/1 - BET NOW

It's unlikely that there will be very low scores this week, with birdies likely to be a bit tougher to come by. In the last four years, the Australian Open's highest winning score came on the Royal Adelaide - with 282 (-10) being Jang Ha-na's winning total in 2017.

The South Korean players seem to be hitting form going into the fourth event of the season - claimed first, second and third in Victoria - and it would not be a surprise to see one of the Korean contingent to win in Adelaide.

Hye-Jin Choi was beaten in a play-off last week and after a final 69, should be flying heading into the opening round in Adelaide.

She may be just 20 years of age, but she already has a second-place finish in Major (US Open) and looks to have the temperament to challenge the best players on tour.

Minjee Lee should content this week but, in such a high-class field, looks like a very short price.
