A trio of jumps meetings this afternoon come from Fontwell, Kelso and Leicester in the UK, although the card at Clonmel in Ireland has been lost to the weather. Later on there is action from the all-weather at Chelmsford City in the evening.
Trainer Gary Moore is always worth paying attention to at his local tracks and he has a French import seeking to make it two-from-two for the yard that features in today's Racing Tips.
Distingo to Win and Each Way @ 11/10 BET NOW
It won't be any surprise if this Novices' Hurdle develops into a shootout between last-time-out Plumpton winners Distingo and Jaisalmer. The former was making his debut for trainer Gary Moore and pulled away in impressive fashion to land that maiden hurdle over 2m on soft-to-heavy ground, having been backed to do so.
Local trainer Moore is well-touted for winners over the road at Plumpton, but he also boasts a useful 18% strike record here at Fontwell down the years.
Distingo should be open to a fair bit of progress from that debut run and can continue his winning ways as such.
Thahab Ifraj to Win and Each Way @ 3/1 - BET NOW
This Frozen Power gelding was competitive in a quartet of all-weather runs in late 2016/early 2017 without opening his account on the surface. He was in the money in all four cases however and should really be suited now stepped up to this 2m trip.
His most recent outing on the Flat saw him go close at Windsor in August while he was beaten under 2L at Kempton over 1m4f in January 2017 the last time he was spotted on an artificial surface, each of those runs coming off today's mark of 68.
When last spotted on the track, he made every yard to win a novice hurdle at Stratford over 2m 2½f on good ground in August.
He likes to be on the front end and is unexposed returning to this sphere off a break. He has gone well fresh in the past and looks the type to open his account quite quickly now getting a trip that plays to his strengths. The in-form Mambo Dancer is the obvious danger and likely to be prominent in the racing betting for Mark Johnston but he has failed to fire in two previous visits to Chelmsford and is up 5lb for his latest success at Wolverhampton.
Sir Hamilton to win and Each Way @ 4/1 - BET NOW
The top pair on the racecard appear to the two most likely to land this contest. The filly Beautiful Memory was a convincing winner of a C&D maiden last time out and is not passed over quickly in the Godolphin blue for her in-form trainer.
At the forecast racing odds however, Sir Hamilton earns the vote to build on his last-time-out Kempton success over a mile. He did the job in fairly straightforward fashion there in the hands of Luke Morris, having scored over the mile around here previously on what was his first start on the all-weather and second career outing.
Martin Harley takes over in the plate this evening and it's likely to be a no-nonsense approach again for the in-form rider with a 21% strike rate from 63 mounts so far in 2018. This Canford Cliffs colt is well capable of taking another step forward now upped in trip and can have the measure of the filly if doing so.
