Eamon Hanlon's Curragh Sunday Tips

It’s a huge day of racing at the Curragh with three group one events including the Irish St Leger and here are my betting views on the main races of the afternoon – EH.

Curragh Tips –

2.05 – Curragh – Quite a few UK raiders in this big field for this valuable handicap sprint and the nod goes to one of them, DISCUSSIONTOFOLLOW following his running-on effort at Goodwood in the Steward’s Cup. He is preferred to Great St Wilfrid winner Out Do with the best of the home contingent being Edward Lynam’s three-year-old Lady Mega.

2.40 – Curragh – TARFASHA ran as well as could have been expected when second to the brilliant Taghrooda at Epsom in the Oaks and her Irish Oaks failure is easily forgotten as she pulled way too hard. I know that Dermot Weld still thinks the world of her and she should prove too good for Chiquita.

3.10 – Curragh – This looks a tricky renewal of the Flying Five, but with the ground drying out all the time a chance is taken with David Barron’s ROBOT BOY stepping into group company. Guerre blotted his CV last time at Ascot, but if he is strong in the market then the youngster could be worth a saver bet.

3.40 – Curragh – I can pass on some very good vibes for the Ballydoyle filly FOUND following her impressive maiden success and the daughter of Galileo may land this prestigious event before taking on the best of the European two-year-old fillies over a mile. If she fails to progress as anticipated then Malabar would be preferred to Lucida.

4.15 – Curragh – It is very difficult to oppose GLENEAGLES following his success in the Futurity and even at long odds-on he is worth sticking in accas through the day.

4.50 – Curragh – Leading Light has had some very hard races this season and he could be worth opposing with ENCKE. The 2012 St Leger winner is still lightly raced and showed he retains the majority of his ability when second to Pethers Moon at Goodwood.
