It's day three of the St Leger Festival on Friday afternoon, and the headline act is the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, where Stradivarius bids to win for the second time in his outstanding career.

Racing at Doncaster on Friday is from 13.10-16.20, and we've picked out our best bets on their seven-race card.

Hoo Ya Mal to win and each-way - BET NOW

Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy are fancied to team up and land the Flying Scotsman Stakes with Hoo Ya Mal. The Territories colt finished third on debut in a heavy-ground Sandown maiden at the end of July and duly built on that when getting a faster surface to race on at York (7f, good to firm) last month.

He won the Convivial maiden on the Knavesmire, a valuable contest that often proves to be a strong race, and he did so impressively. Murphy was on board for the first time in that race, and his mount was produced under a patient ride from the rear to come and win in taking fashion, powering clear late on from some useful opposition in a time that bodes well.

Further progress is needed to bag this, but Hoo Ya Mal should have plenty more in his locker and is fancied to showcase that now. Find, Eldrickjones and once-raced Salisbury maiden scorer Ribhi rate amongst the dangers.

Friday Doncaster Long Shot

Doncaster 15:15

Lucky Deal to win and each-way - BET NOW

The Mallard Handicap has attracted a decent field of 13 runners, and it appears wide open on paper, with Irish raider Sevenna Star attracting plenty of support in the betting for trainer Emmet Mullins. He's one to note, while Prince Alex and Uber Cool are others in the same category but Mark Johnston's Lucky Deal is one that could strike soon from a reduced mark.

His most recent success came off a 4lb higher perch on the all-weather at Kempton back in January over two miles, and he's arriving here off the back of a good second last time at Newmarket (1m6f, good to firm) behind Indigo Times, with that rival having held up the form since with his Goodwood second.

Joe Fanning's mount should be suited by this race and ought to be amongst those finishing to good effect.

Friday Doncaster Prediction

Doncaster 16.20

Thousand Oaks to win - BET NOW

All eyes will be on Stradivarius in the Doncaster Cup, but his assignment there hinges on the participation of Goodwood Cup winner Trueshan, who is unlikely to appear if conditions remain good-to-firm. That will surely make the 2019 winner a long odds-on favourite.

John & Thady Gosden will also expect to see Thousand Oaks strutting her stuff in the final race. The Qatar Racing-owned daughter of Kingman cost a cool £500,000, and she had a pair of next-time-out scorers well behind when running out a clear-cut winner of a Newmarket novice (1m4f, good to firm) in July on her third start.

Champion jockey Oisin Murphy takes over now as she ventures into handicaps, and she may prove too good for these six rivals.
