Friday's Horse Racing tips Betting Tips
There's a busy afternoon of jumps racing on Friday with four meetings across Britain and Ireland ahead of the evening all-weather action to kick-start the weekend.
It all starts at Gowran Park at 11.45 over the jumps with further meetings at Catterick (12.05-15.33), Ascot (12.20-15.45) and Chepstow (12.30-16.00). Later on the all-weather fare comes from Dundalk (15.55-19.30) and Newcastle (16.15-20.15).
Friday's Horse Racing Predictions
15:45 Ascot Betting Tips
He remains a maiden after seven starts but the most recent signs from Silver Nickel have been more encouraging. He ended last season with a promising third at Wincanton (1m7½f, soft) at odds of 40/1 behind Paul Nicholls' Fidelio Vallis and began his new campaign here (2m3½f, good to soft) in October with a staying on fourth in a Conditional Jockeys' Novices' Handicap Hurdle at odds of 33/1.
The Seamus Mullins-trained six-year-old was under the pump a long way from home and did some good work late in the piece to get up into fourth, suggesting he'll be well suited over this extended trip.
Rider Daniel Sansom can claim his 3lb allowance in this contest and the ground looks just fine for a horse with scope to improve his lot over hurdles in the coming months.
16:00 Chepstow Betting Tips
Sexy Lot is the obvious one here for David Pipe after a decisive success at Ffos Las on soft ground earlier in the month. She sauntered past her rivals to win that race by eight lengths and goes off from an unchanged mark (will rise 12lb in future) in this. She may well win again but there are some reasons to doubt her.
That Ffos Las race saw all the leading runners falling in a hole in the home straight, while the omission of the second-last flight was also in her favour. The jump at the last was far from perfect too.
A wind operation last season appeared to help Made For You turn a corner. He won at Musselburgh in February and was just inched out the following month at Fontwell (2m3f, heavy) before lockdown ended his season.
He ran well again on his return at Kelso (2m5f, good to soft) in a Conditionals event when second-best, beaten by less than two lengths, having pulled well clear of everything else.
Richard Johnson takes over on the Olly Murphy-trained five-year-old here and we may not have seen the best from him yet. He's a viable alternative to the likely-short priced favourite.
18:15 Newcastle Betting Tips
The mare Dandys Gold made a winning start to her time with Roger Fell when scoring over C&D in February, her best effort since arriving in Britain from Ireland last summer.
She backed that up with a good second over a mile here having been raised 7lb to this mark of 83 later the same month. She was also second back over this 6f trip in July in a Class 3 contest and arrives at Newcastle having run in midfield in her only outing since, at Wolverhampton last month.
She remains on the same mark of 83 now but with Tyler Heard claiming 7lb off her back, Dandys Gold could have a leading say in this handicap on a track where she has yet to run a bad race.
