It is Betfair Day at Newbury and I shall be there to bring up to the minute news and betting activity from the track. Here are my best bets for a fascinating Saturday of racing – PJ.

Newbury Tips –

1.50 – Newbury – from a punting point of view this is the only race that I am interested in and I strongly fancy the Jonjo O’Neill trained MILAN BOUND to get onto the score sheet this season getting weight from the majority of his chief rivals.

The seven-year-old is still relatively unexposed and with a shift in the weights in his favour he will surely reverse recent Haydock Park form with the consistent Closing Ceremony. The other factor in his favour is this much more galloping track and the selection could have much more to fear from top weight Milansbar.

The last named just got going that little bit too late behind Barafundle last month and despite a 3lbs higher mark the eight-year-old looks a very solid player here.

BET NOW – MILAN BOUND

Lingfield Tips –

3.45 – Lingfield – This class two handicap sprint looks sure to be run at a really good clip with the likes of Ballista (becoming better handicapped) and Boom The Groom at the sharp end and that should suit my selection UPAVON.

Liam Keniry should get a good pull into the race aboard the five-year-old and I shall be very disappointed if he can’t play a major role here in what looks an open affair and betting odds of 14/1 look very enticing.

Of the remaining runners, Baddilini was a little bit unlucky not to get to History Book last time out, while Triple Chocolate made giant strides towards the backend of the last turf season and the betting will tell us if he is primed for his first run for 129 days.

BET NOW - UPAVON (e/w)

4.20 – Lingfield – A hugely competitive sprint for this class five level and it represents a really good opening for the Nick Littmoden trained POETIC CHOICE to come good again.

He is certainly capable of winning off this mark if his last run is anything to go by when he didn’t get the best of runs through the race before finishing just under five lengths fifth behind Autumns Bush at Wolverhampton in October after having to take a wide course. Better drawn in stall five this afternoon, the four-year-old is taken to give the weight away to Thataboy.

The Tom Dascombe charge didn’t really get the pace in the race he needs to show his best form when coming home nicely behind Glastonberry over course and distance last time out. If they go a swifter pace here then the selection can come home spitting fire and reverse recent form with the filly Marjong.

She has a much poorer strike rate than the selection and seemingly needs everything to fall her way to show her best form.

BET NOW – POETIC CHOICE (e/w)

Wolverhampton Tips –

9.15 – Wolverhampton – This could be one of the best bets of the day/night in this low grade extended mile handicap which looks as though there isn't much depth to it.

Dimitar surely isn’t too far away from landing a fifth all-weather success from 33 starts. The Johnny Farrelly trained runners last visited the winner’s enclosure almost a year ago when scoring off a mark of 65 here over seven furlongs.

There is little doubt that he stays this extended trip well enough and racing off just 59 he has a chance only second to my main selection of the day, MR SOPRANO.

Less exposed than all of these, he finished with some aplomb at Chelmsford last time out and will relish this step up in trip after just five career starts to date, two on the all-weather.

BET NOW - MR SOPRANO
