Remind me next time

With Ffos Las waterlogged there are just the two meetings on Tuesday, a national hunt card at Fakenham and then on the Fibresand at Southwell. Here are my best wagers of the afternoon – PJ.

Fakenham Tips –

1.05 – Fakenham – Zip Top, McCoy’s only mount on the card, is likely to start a short priced favourite for this, but on a line through Jollyallan he has little or nothing in hand of LANCEUR and so the Lucy Wadham charge is preferred on grounds of value as well as form.

This son of former Epsom Derby hero High Rise was the only one to keep tabs on his conqueror down the home stretch at Newbury, staying on well in the closing stages. He has plenty more improvement to come and being a well-balanced sort should be well suited to this sharp track.

Outside the first two in the betting, it will be interesting to see how Low Key fares in the betting making his debut for the David Pipe yard.

Rated as high as 88 on the level, he should have no problem with the trip and looked on good terms with himself when winning a class five mile and a half handicap at Newbury on soft ground at the backend of October.

BET NOW – LANCEUR

3.15 – Fakenham -  Destroyer Deployed is steadily coming down the weights and this is his easiest task for some time. However, he will have to step up considerably on a lack lustre performance last time out, albeit in a much better race than this at Cheltenham.

The nod goes to the lightly raced point to pointer FREDDY FOX who just looked an out and out stayer last time out at Southwell when put in his place by the above average Delgany Demon.
The selection was under the cosh that day a long way from home, but kept on answering his rider’s callings and stayed on doggedly to grab second spot on the run-in.

Vision Du Coeur ran on strongly to win in clear cut style at Huntingdon last time out and his penalty seems about right. However, he hasn’t been the most straightforward horse in the past and a better option could be bottom weight Drombeg West who looked in need of this extra yardage when keeping on well last time out over an extended two and a half miles at also Cambridgeshire track.

Having also had a word for DESTROYER DEPLOYED I couldn't leave him out the equation. This is his easiest task for some time and he is well worth an each-way saver if you can get the 4/1 plus on the exchanges. It may also be worth combining him in a forecast with Freddy Fox.

At the time of writing DD is probably slightly too short in the market, but I feel Freddy Fox is hugely overpriced at around the 14/1 marker.

BET NOW – FREDDY FOX

BET NOW - DESTROYER DEPLOYED

Southwell Tips –

1.15 – Southwell – Madam Mirasol ran much better last time out and I can see the Kevin Ryan charge going well at double figure odds if she can get to the front early on from her outside stall.

However, there are several other entries in much better form and the nod goes to the top weight QUEEN OF THE SKIES. The daughter of Shamardal continued her good run of form when staying on strongly inside the final furlong to beat Heavens Eyes by half a length over a mile.

The drop back to seven furlongs is a slight concern, but the likelihood of a fast run race may just about compensate for that and she can give the weight away to the likes of the veteran Amenable and Pat’s Legacy.

The former saw off one of his old rivals, Spitifre, over six furlongs here last time out, but is equally as effective over an extra 220 yards, while Marjorie Fife’s charge led deep inside the final furlong over a mile last time out before being collared by Major Rowan.-

BET NOW – QUEEN OF THE SKIES

4.00 – Southwell – Canadian Diamond won nicely over a mile and three quarters last time out and remains relatively unexposed on the flat and could go close again after the yard sorted out his back problems. However, I am not so sure that he can give the weight away to DIFFERENT SCENARIO.

Mel Brittain has his team in good form at the moment and this lightly raced son of Araafa looked a shade unlucky in the run not to get to Mazij in the closing stage of a 12 furlong event at Wolverhampton last time out.

With Cascadia more of a 10 furlong horse and Fire In Babylon running below par the other danger could be the well weighted Amazing Blue Sky. The nine-year-old continues to drop down the weights and has run well on this surface before.

BET NOW – DIFFERENT SCENARIO
