With seven meetings scheduled on Friday, we have two picks on the Flat and one selection over jumps at this evening’s Aintree meeting.

Stradivarius to Win and Each Way @ 10/11 – BET NOW

John Gosden’s representative in the 2018 running of the Yorkshire Cup showed strong form in staying contests as a three-year-old last season.

The winner of Royal Ascot’s 1m6f Queens Vase, Stradivarius duly followed up against older horses in the 2m Goodwood Cup held on good ground over 2m in early August.

The son of Sea The Stars failed to win again that season though he was beaten just half a length when finishing third in the final classic of the season, the St Leger, at Doncaster in September while he ended the year by filling the same position when beaten a length in Ascot’s Long Distance Cup, run on soft ground in October.

The selection has good form over this trip and has Frankie Dettori, who was on board at Ascot last time, booked to ride here and with the potential for improvement this year, he can get his season off to the perfect start in the day’s feature event.

Fly The Nest to Win and Each Way @ Evens - BET NOW

The selection made a pleasing debut when finishing runner-up to a well-supported rival in a competitive 5f maiden contest at Newmarket on 1000 Guineas day.

The Kodiac colt showed signs of inexperience when going right in the closing stages on that occasion and shaped as if he’d appreciate this step up to 6f which is supported by his breeding, given he is a full-brother to a 6f winner and half-brother to a horse who has won four times over 6f to 1m.

The youngster is one of just two horses with racecourse experience in this contest and that is another pointer to his chances here.

Charlie Appleby has his string in good form at present and can boast a 24% strike-rate (7/29) in recent weeks and Fly The Nest can provide him with a second two-year-old winner of the season with jockey James Doyle taking over in the saddle for this eleven-runner maiden contest.

17:35 Aintree

Kupatana to Win and Each Way @ 4/1 - BET NOW

Leading trainer Nicky Henderson has his yard in great form at present, coming into this contest with a 26% strike-rate (12/26) in recent weeks, and his representative Kupatana can make a winning handicap debut in the opening mares handicap contest.

The selection was the winner of a point-to-point on yielding ground nearly 14 months ago and has since gone on to register a victory in a heavy ground maiden hurdle over an extended 2m3f at Lingfield in March.

The daughter of Westerner hasn’t looked entirely straightforward the last twice, most recently when a beaten odds-on favourite when wearing a hood (retained here) for the first time dropping to 2m at Chepstow last time out.

She is however likely to appreciate this step back up in trip and is taken to register a second rules success in the opening race on the card.
