Saturday Horse Racing Betting Tips

Treble (12:05 Sandown, 12:40 Sandown & 3:15 Wincanton)

Bo Zenith, Love Envoi & Chianti Classico all to win – 2pt Win – 1.69/1 (William Hill)

These three horses should simply win their respective races.

Bo Zenith looks a smart recruit for Gary Moore. He is 1 win from 1 run in France where he defeated Blood Destiny who won well on debut for Willie Mullins last month. That win is stronger form that what Mombasa achieved in France and the fact David Maxwell is aboard that one just cements the fact that Bo Zenith should be winning this.

I simply cannot see the other two getting near Bo Zenith here. William Hill currently have Bo Zenith enhanced to 22/1 (from 18/1) to win both this and the Triumph at the Cheltenham Festival and I think that is phenomenal value.

Love Envoi is a lovely horse, the type that everyone loves as she would run through a wall for you. She impressed me the last day as I thought she would come on that run and could be vulnerable but she stuck so gamely to the task despite looking tired. She is a horse that improves as the season goes on, so should be even better here and I think she will enjoy the return to 2m4f.

She is the best horse in the race on ratings and is 5lb well in with Martello Sky who is 4lb inferior but carries 1lb more. The rest of them are 12lb-31lb inferior and only received 4lb from Love Envoi.

Excluding mishaps, Love Envoi should take this well and cement her position in the Mares Hurdle at the festival. Speaking of, William Hill currently have her at 18/1 to win today and the Mares Hurdle and I think that is great value again. If it comes up soft for the Mares Hurdle, she will love it.

Last but not least, we have Chianti Classico. He was a lovely bumper horse and has progressed even further as a hurdler with a record of 2 wins from 2 runs. At Chepstow he beat subsequent Grade 2 winner Henri The Second before winning again easily at Market Rasen under a penalty. His opening mark of 131 looks very fair and between that and the fact this looks a weak race, he should be winning here.

Sir Psycho was off the track for 741 before returning over fences with a fall. He even fall again when running free. He now comes back here over hurdles to find some confidence and I cannot see them throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Stoner’s Choice was beaten 20 lengths returned to hurdles and soft ground doesn’t look ideal for him. Both wins for Longshanks came on Heavy and this will likely not be testing enough for him.

I’m not usually one for multiples – Singles for dough and multiples for show as they say but this should be straightforward.

Grey Diamond – 1pt Win – 11/4 (Bet365 & William Hill)

singleSelection

Grey Diamond looks ready to win to me.

He held every chance when crumbling on landing after the last at Wincanton. As a result of that, he ended up finishing last beaten 34 lengths and left on the same mark.

He then went to Cheltenham where he ran a stormer. He jumped the last contesting the lead but Amarillo Sky and Fugitif found a little more close home and demoted him to third. He was put up 2lb for that (131 to 133).

That form is very interesting considering that Amarillo Sky was put up 4lb and won easily 15 days later at Newbury and was raised a further 8lb for that. So he is now 12lb higher than when beating the selection.

Likewise Fugitif came out at Chepstow a couple of days after Christmas off a 2lb higher mark and won very easily, resulting in a 10lb rise and like Amarillo Sky, he is now 12lb higher than when racing the selection.

At Cheltenham, all three pulled a long way clear of the remainder and if Grey Diamond can run to a similar level, I think he can defy a mark of 133.

Just the 1pt as it is a competitive race.

Palladium – 0.5pt Win – 18/1 (Bet365, Betfred & Boylesport)

singleSelection

I cannot resist a small win bet on Palladium at 18/1 in this race.

He won twice over C&D in 2020 on Soft and Heavy ground. In the latter he achieved a RPR of 135 and beat Flic Ou Voyou (135 hurdles/137 chase).

He was then pulled up at Cheltenham before having a 220 day break. He returned with a 7th at Market Rasen over 2m4f on Good ground. He then had another 253 day break before flopping over 3m and then having a run on the flat.

He has now been off the track since July 21 and has moved from Nicky Henderson to Polly Gundry albeit for the same main owners.

After his second C&D win, he was rated 137 and races here off 126. Nico De Boinville is booked to ride and if (a massive if), this horse could return to his best form, he should love the conditions and 16/1 could look massive in hindsight. Obvious risks but worth a small bet at 18/1 for me.

Total Outlay – 3.5 points
