It's day three of five at Glorious Goodwood and it's the fillies that take centre stage in the Nassau Stakes (15:15) while Frankie Dettori will bid for compensation on English King after his Epsom Derby disappointment.
We've got three selections in Thursday's Glorious Goodwood Predictions, with Frankie expected to soar again in the Stradivarius colours.
Al Salt to win and each-way - BET NOW
Safe to say that Al Salt looked far from the finished product in his Wolverhampton win early this month, a second successive all-weather score for the Mukhadram gelding since racing returned.
He was sent off a warm order to win and he cruised into contention under Jim Crowley on the home bend, before veering right across the track once holding the advantage.
He looked to be in the process of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory but, once Crowley got after him, he rallied strongly and came away to win well in the end. The manner in which he responded suggest there's a good engine in there.
He goes up in trip for this first foray into a handicap and with the William Haggas team remaining in such steadfast health, it won't be a shock to find he's right in the thick of things when it matters most.
English King to win and each-way - BET NOW
He was set to go off favourite in The Derby at Epsom only for Kameko to usurp him on the day and, in the end, both the 2,000 Guineas winner and English King left the Classic with more questions than answers having finished fourth and fifth (split by a neck).
Those questions of course owed so much to the tearaway winner Serpentine doing a job on the field.
Khalifa Sat finished second in the Epsom race and is 2-2 here at Goodwood but he may play second fiddle to Ed Walker's charge, who can also maintain Epsom superiority over Ballydoyle contender Mogul today.
His Lingfield Derby Trial win was a most taking display and Berkshire Rocco's Royal Ascot second to Santiago lent it a degree of authority.
This is going to be a more conventionally run race than The Derby, with Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore unlikely to fall for any rope-a-dope tactics today. English King can prove his class in that scenario.
Bahrain Trophy winner Al Aasy is a player too, though he's not helped conceding a penalty against some classy rivals for that Group 3 win over 1m5f.
Fancy Blue to win and each-way - BET NOW
Three-year-olds have held sway in the Nassau recently, winning six of the last eight renewals and recent Prix De Diane winner Fancy Blue can further enhance that record.
Unbeaten last year for Aidan O'Brien, the Deep Impact filly was moved to Donnacha O'Brien this season once he got his license. Her second in last month's Irish 1,000 Guineas is strong form, the race having thrown up a Group 3 winner and the impressive Irish Oaks scorer Even So already.
Moreover, she was strong and determined since at Chantilly to fend off Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star over 1m2½f and her stamina is a proven asset against the likes of Nazeef today. John Gosden's winning machine is a major player if she gets the trip, though last year's winner Deirdre may struggle in what looks a stronger renewal now.
That Ryan Moore prefers Fancy Blue over Magic Wand is telling and, if they were both still trained by Aidan O'Brien, the former would probably be shorter than 5/2.
