Thursday's Horse Racing Predictions
Follow our trio of selection in Thursday's horse racing prediction from Carlisle, the Curragh and Chelmsford City.
Garry Clermont to Win and Each Way - BET NOW
Team Jonjo O'Neill go after a first-time-out win over fences with Garry Clermont at Carlisle and he's just the sort to excel in the Racing TV Novices' Limited Handicap Chase over just shy of two-miles.
A point-to-point winner before arriving at Jackdaws Castle, he won an Aintree bumper (2m1f, good) on his stable bow in May 2019 and enjoyed a satisfying campaign over hurdles last term, twice winning on soft ground at Ludlow over two-miles and shaping well in graded company at Kempton on his final run in February.
He would always have appealed as the sort to make up into a good chaser and this strong traveller should be well suited starting out here. He pulled hard on his reappearance last term but it's also probable the 2m4½f trip around Southwell was against him and he should be able to do himself justice on this return to action/chase bow.
Lustown Baba to Win and Each Way - BET NOW
Recent course and distance handicap winner Lustown Baba might be able to leave her mark in what is a first tilt in Listed company in the TRM Waterford Testimonial Stakes for trainer Willie McCreery.
An improving three-year-old filly, she was very impressive here on Sunday on soft ground when thrashing 14 rivals by more than seven-lengths to gain the third win of her career on her 10th start.
That run achieved a three-figure rating and it's no great surprise that connections opt to turn out quickly for this Listed event with track, trip and ground conditions favourable.
She's worth a crack in this company and looks a viable each-way alternative to likely market leader Make A Challenge for the Denis Hogan team. He's a four-time winner in this grade already in 2020 (including over C&D) but does come into this after two tough races in Group 1 company, including in France just 11 days ago.
There's a chance that he may be caught out at the end of a busy season and the young filly could take full advantage in her current mood.
20:00 Chelmsford City
Emerald Fox to Win and Each Way - BET NOW
An exposed field for this mile handicap and one in which plenty are scrambling for form. Amor Fati is an exception having won at Wolverhampton 10 days ago but William Buick's mount wouldn't be any sort of certainty to show the same form under a 5lb penalty.
Emerald Fox has less failings on her CV and has made the frame three times in six all-weather starts, including at Lingfield (second) and Kempton (third) on her two most recent starts on artificial surfaces.
The form of that Lingfield race worked out nicely, the first and third winning three more races between them since, while Patrick Chamings' mare was inconvenienced by a mid-race stumble at Kempton 15 days ago before staying on into third. She's almost certainly capable of landing a low-grade event like this before long.
