An eight-race evening card on the Flat at Sandown Park is headlined by the Listed National Stakes over the straight five-furlongs on Thursday.

Thursday's Sandown Horse Racing Predictions

Racing is underway at 16:20 and runs through until 20:00. Our tipster has picked out three to follow in Thursday's Sandown Horse Racing Predictions.

Magic J to win and each-way - BET NOW

Ed Vaughan's son of Scat Daddy was bred for speed and should be on the board soon after two promising efforts in defeat to begin this season.

He hasn't won since his Yarmouth debut (6f, good to firm) in September 2018 but he only raced three times last year and one of those in Listed company at Newcastle on his comeback.

Both of this season's effort have merit to them, with the four-year-old colt finishing second at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) early last month and filling the same berth at Wolverhampton (5f, AW).

On the first of those runs he was unable to peg back runaway frontrunner Bungee Jump, who effectively slipped the field; and second time out he was denied half a length by the well-handicapped winner Savalas.

He's a shade unfortunate to be up 3lb in the ratings himself in defeat but, with first-time cheekpieces liable to eke out some improvement, Oisin Murphy's mount has strong claims.

Ubettabelieveit to win and each-way - BET NOW

Mark Johnston's Eye Of Heaven was sent off red-hot favourite for last month's Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot following an impressive display on his debut at Newmarket. The son of Exceed And Excel had few excuses at Ascot given he got a good run through the race and now must bounce back.

There's every chance he'll do just that, but this isn't easy and Nigel Tinkler has an exciting sprinter on his hands with Ubettabelieveit seemingly.

The manner in which he stretched away from his rivals at Doncaster last time was very impressive and a line through the fourth Bright Armor suggests he is very likely to give Line Of Reason a race here. At the forecast odds, Ubettabelieveit is worth siding with on this occasion.

Newton Jack to win and each-way - BET NOW

Trainer Stuart Kittow hasn't had much to shout about in 2020 thus far with just a solitary winner from 40 attempts but there's every reason to think Newton Jack can boost his tally soon.

The three-year-old has improved for the switch into handicaps this term. He was beaten only three-lengths behind Queen Of Silca on his comeback at Chelmsford on the all-weather last month and cut that deficit in half when runner-up behind the same thriving rivals early this month at Chepstow (7f, good).

Rob Hornby made most of the running that afternoon and while he had no answer to the Kingman filly as she completed a hat-trick; they did see off the rest in good enough style.

That was just Newton Jack's fifth career start and his second over this 7f trip. He's up 2lb in the ratings but remains unexposed and is likely to make further progress this summer.
