Flat racing dominates on Wednesday with four of the five meetings in Britain and Ireland on the level.

The exception is Musselburgh (12.20-15.50) and the Scottish track gets things underway over jumps before they race on the Flat at Nottingham (12.40-16.10) on the turf, as well as all-weather cards at Lingfield (12.30-16.00) and Dundalk (14.05-17.35) in the afternoon. Kempton (16.20-19.50) provides the entertainment in the evening.

We've got with three selections from those five cards, starting at Lingfield.

Lingfield 12.30 Betting Tips

Desert Land to win and each-way - BET NOW

Luke Catton retains the ride on Desert Land for the Jim Boyle team here after a fast-finishing third in an apprentice handicap over C&D six days ago.

The partnership had full view of the field turning for home in that race, spotting the front two the best part of ten-lengths, before pulling wide and coming home with a wet sail for an eye-catching third.

Desert Land remains lightly-raced on the all-weather, with this being only his seventh start. He was a winner here over 6f in June from 2lb lower in the ratings and, having been sprinting at Bath most recently on the turf, showed he's got the tools to excel over this trip with that recent run back here.

Catton claims his full 7lb allowance in this contest, and with a pleasing draw in stall five he can hopefully keep Desert Land closer to the pace, in which case a repeat of his late dash for the line should be enough for victory.

Musselburgh 15.20 Betting Tips

The Navigator to win and each-way - BET NOW

Both The Bees Knees and Dore De Janeiro are worth a look based on their respective handicap debuts. Fergal O'Brien's The Bees Knees scored at Newton Abbot in September and his earlier third in a novice event at that track is also fair form. A drop in trip isn't necessarily a positive for the point-to-point winner however.

The mare Dore De Janeiro won a heavy-ground C&D maiden in February and has been off since. That form has been knocked however and, with fitness to prove, she is overlooked.

The Navigator was most impressive in gaining a double at Sedgefield (2m1f, good) when he returned to hurdling in late September/early October. A third run in a fortnight seemingly caught him out at Carlisle afterwards as he didn't jump with the same fluency but, after a short break since, he may prove himself to still be well ahead of this mark.

Embour to win and each-way - BET NOW

Embour was a decent performer with Richard Hannon, bagging three wins in 2018 and three more in 2019, while he began this calendar year with a near miss over 6f at Wolverhampton in March off a mark of 95.

He was then well held in a pair of Class 2 events on turf at Doncaster (5f, good) and Royal Ascot (6f, good) in June before leaving the Marlborough handler to link up with Ruth Carr.

He returned from 124 days off with a pleasing run at Wolverhampton 13 days ago where he outran odds of 33/1 to finish fifth in a 5f contest. He was stone last turning for home and made plenty ground in the home straight despite having to switch around rivals.

He's been eased 2lb by the assessor for that run and, back up in trip over a C&D where he has won in the past on his only previous run at this track, he's got to have solid claims on second start for his new handler.
