Magic Weekend Tips

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves Tips (7:00pm Saturday)

Wigan To Win @ 10/11 - BET NOW

Wigan got back to winning ways against Swinton in the Challenge Cup and young wingers Liam Marshall and Tom Davies have been rewarded for sparkling starts to their senior careers with new three-year deals. Both were on the scoresheet in the 42-12 while Marshall bagged four tries against this week’s opponents Warrington on only his second senior appearance. The hometown boys will want to continue impressing on Magic Weekend in front of expected big crowds.

Warrington-born academy graduate Harvey Livett has been ruled out of the rest of the 2017 season with a hamstring injury, having played 11 times for the Wire this season. Wolves’ Prop Ashton Sims has received a one-match ban for intentionally standing on Widnes winger Patrick Ah Van, ruling him out of this clash with Wigan. The bookies are sitting on the fence and don’t want to pick a winner, but for me it’s Wigan all the way. They’re won the last two meetings and are back on the up.

Castleford Tigers vs Leeds Rhinos Tips (5:30pm Sunday)

Highest Scoring Half: 2nd @ 8/11 - BET NOW

This mouth-watering match is saved for last on Magic Weekend. Leeds scored three tries in the last 15 minutes to battle back for a 30-24 victory over Catalans Dragons in Perpignan last weekend. Castleford like to leave things late too. It took a 75th minute try from Jesse Sene-Lefao to edge them over the line in their 26-21 win over Huddersfield Giant.

Tigers are 1/3 favourites to win the match, with Leeds 11/4 outsiders. I think there’s value in that price for the Rhinos to be honest, especially as they're 9/4 with the less generous bookmakers! Leeds have won five of their last six games and have a great record in previous Magic Weekends - which don’t forget are played on neutral territory. Leeds will likely have a large supporting contingent in the crowd too. I’m tipping the second period to be the highest scoring half, but I reckon Rhinos could cause an upset here.
