Super League 2018: Magic Weekend Tips

- 14:05, 15th May 2018
Hull FC coach Lee Radford

The 2018 Magic Weekend is now just days away and the excitement is building ahead of the blockbuster event in Newcastle.

Six matches will take place across two days and Tom Hill has picked out some potential Super League Tips.

Widnes vs St Helens

(Sat 15:00)

Saints to win with -22 handicap @ EVENS – BET NOW

Saturday’s game is a case of first versus 10th as Widnes try to bridge the gap between themselves and the top eight. Denis Betts’ men are four points away from doing so, but they will need to produce their best display of the season to overcome Justin Holbrook’s side.

Saints have a two-point cushion going into the first game of Magic Weekend and they will be desperate to lay down a marker.

Widnes have conceded 315 points so far this season and the fact that Saints have scored 454 does not bode well for the Vikings.

Wakefield Trinity vs Huddersfield Giants

(Sun 15:15)

Wakefield to Win @ 4/7 – BET NOW

Chris Chester’s job could soon be on the line after a torrid run of results but the Magic Weekend fixture list gives them the perfect chance to change their fortunes for the better.

Wakefield played Huddersfield last weekend in the Challenge Cup and were left frustrated after a 24-14 defeat.

With their focus solely on the Super League, they will be expected to respond in Newcastle. Several members of the first-team squad could be playing for their futures and they will need to dig deep to stop Huddersfield’s two-match winning run.

Salford vs Catalans Dragons

(Sun 13:00)

Dragons to Win @ Evens – BET NOW

This game promises to be the closest out of the games on show at St James’ Park and it may cause some problems for those looking at the Super League betting.

The Dragons sit bottom of the league table after just three wins from their first 13 matches.

Salford are just doing enough to hold onto eighth but they have lost their last three games. Last time out they were embarrassed by Leigh in the Challenge Cup and Ian Watson’s troops are struggling for confidence at the moment.

Catalans revealed in midweek that they have signed Sam Tomkins for 2019 and that news may focus the rest of the group to dig deep and climb out of the drop zone.

Catalans have now won three of their last four games and they should be in high spirits after beating Whitehaven 56-10 last week.

Hull KR vs Hull FC

(Sun 17:30)

Hull FC to Win @ 2/5 - BET NOW

The final game of the Magic Weekend sees the Hull sides do battle in the north east. The first meeting between these two saw the Airlie Birds grab a 30-22 victory at the KCOM Stadium, and the Robins’ form has not picked up since then.

They have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions and remain in the bottom four as a result.

Lee Radford’s side have only lost two of their last nine but they will be without Bureta Faraimo after he was handed a two-match ban for a high tackle.
