After the farcical non-event that was the rain-affected Belgian Grand Prix last week, hopes are high that the return of the Dutch GP after a 36-year absence this weekend will deliver a proper contest at the Circuit Zandvoort.

With the local Max Verstappen fans expected to be out in force supporting the Red Bull hero in his title quest, there is plenty of excitement at the first Dutch race since 1985 and, thankfully, the weather is predicted to be dry.

Verstappen 'won' in Belgium, despite only following a safety car for two laps, and he's now just three points behind Lewis Hamilton in the drivers' standings.

And it's likely Verstappen will come out on top here. However, this F1 season is turning out to be often unpredictable and with this revived race being staged at a circuit where we have no previous form to go on, it could be another open and chaotic weekend.

Zandvoort has changed immeasurably since F1 cars were last on the track. It's now a tight and twisty venue with large parts of the old track, which was used in the 1970s and 80s, turned into a holiday park.

Dutch Grand Prix Betting Odds

Max Verstappen to Win - BET NOW

It's little surprise to see Verstappen as the 11/10 favourite to win the race, just nudging ahead of title rival Hamilton in his Mercedes at 6/5. Next comes Sergio Perez of Red Bull at 16/1 and Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas, also 16/1, while Lando Norris is a 33/1 shot in his McLaren and Charles Leclerc is 40/1 for Ferrari.

George Russell, who pulled off an audacious qualifying lap in Belgium to secure a brilliant second on the grid, is another driver who will be closely watched this weekend and he's on offer at a tasty 11/10 to finish in the points on Sunday.

Dutch Grand Prix Predictions

Lewis Hamilton - Podium Finish - BET NOW

The Mercedes fans will hope the Dutch venue suits the Briton. There is an argument to suggest, like in Budapest when Hamilton secured only his third pole position of the season, Zandvoort, which is also less power-hungry, could bring the best out of the W12 again.

After some tense battles between the two leading drivers already this year, it would be a delight to see another duel and backing them both to finish on the podium, on offer at 1/3, seems wise, despite the short odds.

Pierre Gasly - Top 6 Finish - BET NOW

For those looking for a bit more value, though, the top-six betting market is intriguing and Pierre Gasly looks an attractive price. The Alpha Tauri driver has started in the top six at seven of the last eight races and if he enjoys a trouble-free afternoon, the top six should comfortably be within his grasp.

The Frenchman has finished in the first six four times already in 2021, including in the last two races, so he will be determined to maintain that excellent form this weekend.
