There are six race meetings on Friday with opening afternoons at both Wetherby and Down Royal on their major jumps meetings.

The West Yorkshire venue launches the action (11:55-15:55), with further jumps meetings at Uttoxeter (12:15-16:20) and Down Royal (12:40-16:10) alongside afternoon Flat racing at Newmarket (12:35-16:05). Later on, the Friday Night Lights go on at Newcastle (16:15-20:15) and Dundalk (16:30-20:00).

Friday's Horse Racing Predictions

14:10 Wetherby

Two For Gold to win and each-way - BET NOW

Two days of really good jumps racing at Wetherby on their flagship meeting coming up and it's well worth taking a look at Two For Gold for trainer Kim Bailey and rider David Bass in this Listed handicap chase over two-and-half-miles.

The yard could scarcely be in better form recently (33 per-cent strike-rate from 27 runners) and that is reflected in Bass boasting a 32 per-cent strike-rate over the previous fortnight.

The rider is also the owner of a 35 per-cent strike rate at Wetherby over the last five seasons and, with the stable in such good form, it's noteworthy that Two For Gold is the sole runner for the Bailey/Bass alliance today.

He's got a solid record on reappearance, winning at Carlisle last season (2m4f, heavy) on his first chase outing and racking up a hat-trick with wins at Kelso and Warwick over further, before settling for second behind ultra-impressive Copperhead in a three-mile Ascot Grade 2 in February.

This trip is as short as he'll want, but he should be fine and looks certain to make further progress this season.

14:25 Down Royal

Select Opportunity to win and each-way - BET NOW

A big field for this stayers' handicap hurdle over three miles and one in which Select Opportunity makes sound appeal for trainer Edward Cawley.

The nine-year-old has raced rather sparingly in recent times but he won both starts in 2019, scoring over fences at Sligo (2m5f) and then over hurdles at Fairyhouse (2m4f) in the autumn.

He returned to action this month at the latter venue and finished sixth of 13 over fences, beaten around 16-lengths in the end having jostled for the lead throughout (usually races mid-div).

That run will have brought his fitness on nicely and he's now sent back over timber, availing of a 12lb lower mark in this sphere. With that run behind him, he should go close here if seeing out the three-miles.

18:15 Newcastle

Bringitonboris to win and each-way - BET NOW

Keith Dalgleish opts to turn out Bringitonboris quickly after a near miss here in midweek when he finished third in what amounted to a four-way dive for the line over C&D.

The three-year-old gelding travelled especially well as they headed into the final furlong or so before briefly getting caught for some pace when others around him quickened up. He did though rally strongly at the line and was closing in again when the post came.

Having finished second over C&D on first all-weather start earlier in the month, this relatively lightly-raced Ayr winner is showing a liking for Newcastle.

He's up in class here but, from an unchanged mark, might just relish having less weight on his back and improve again to register the second win of his short career.
