Remind me next time

It promises to be a landmark day on Saturday as Wales duo Alun Wyn Jones and Dan Biggar get ready to make milestone appearances.

Lock Jones will make his first outing of the Six Nations to earn his record-extending 150th Test cap, while fly-half Biggar becomes a centurion.

A celebratory win is likely against an Italy side who, despite showing signs of improvement, looks set for a seventh Six Nations without a victory.

Wales vs Italy Betting Odds

odds

Wales were valiant losers in going down 13-9 to France last Friday but after winning the Championship in 2021, narrowly missing out on the Grand Slam, things have not been so easy in 2022.

Injuries have beset Wayne Pivac's side and their 20-17 round-two victory over Scotland remains their only success. However, they have never lost at home to Italy in the Six Nations and are 1/25 to grab another win.

Italy have again given everything but fallen short in the tournament, prompting fresh debate regarding their place at European rugby's top table.

Two late tries from debutant Ange Capuozzo added respectability to last Saturday's 33-22 defeat to Scotland and the Azzurri are 22/1 to cause an upset by ending their 36-game losing run in the tournament with only a second-ever draw between the pair 80/1.

Wales vs Italy Team News

Wales went early with their team announcement, Pivac revealing his side on Tuesday with Jones returning for his first game since October. However, he has resisted the urge to hand the 36-year-old the captaincy, with fly-half Biggar retaining that role as he becomes the seventh Welshman to make it to 100 caps.

The hosts have made seven changes, with Johnny McNicholl, Louis Rees-Zammit, Willis Halaholo and Gareth Davies coming into the backs, while Dewi Lake and Dillon Lewis start in the front row.

Capuozzo's showing off the bench has earned him a first start for his country and he'll wear the 15 shirt, with Edoardo Padovani switching to the wing.

Meanwhile, Marco Fuser comes into the second-row and wing Pierre Bruno's omission from the matchday 23 signals a six-two split on the bench.

Wales vs Italy Where To Watch On TV

As with all of Wales' homes games, the match will be shown live on the BBC, with BBC1's programme starting at 13:45.

For those who may want to miss the build-up, the game kicks-offs at 14:15.

Wales vs Italy Prediction

Wales to win by 11-20 - BET NOW

odds

Wales have won the pair's last two Six Nations matches by an average of 41.5 points, while the last three meetings in Cardiff have seen the hosts triumph by a mean of 38.3 points.

While a bonus-point win is to be expected, the injuries Pivac has had to deal with mean his side have not been as fluent as they would have been, scoring just five tries in the tournament, 15 less than in their fives games 12 months ago.

Saturday gives them a chance to open up but that could also provide space for Italy, who will have fresh confidence after crossing three times against the Scots.

The Azzurri may have lost their four games by an average of 30.5 points but Wales' lack of penetration could bring that number down, while Capouzzo's emergence also adds to the excitement.

Louis Rees-Zammit - Last Tryscorer - BET NOW

odds

After scoring four tries last year, Louis Rees-Zammit has failed to hit those same heights in 2022 and was dropped on the back of mixed showings against Ireland and Scotland.

The 21-year-old returned to the bench against France and has been given the opportunity to end the tournament on a high after being named on the right wing.

Having scored the final try of last year's meeting in Rome, he has as good a chance as anybody of doing the same again on Saturday.
