After last week's come from behind win, the British & Irish Lions are 80 minutes from sealing a Test series victory in South Africa.

However, following their disrupted build-up to the opener in Cape Town, the Springboks will be gunning for revenge on the back of an extra week on the training paddock.

Jacques Nienaber has picked a team to bulldoze the tourists and with opposite number Warren Gatland adding extra physicality to his own XV, another bruising encounter is expected.

2nd Test - South Africa vs British & Irish Lions Betting Odds

Despite being the favourites heading into the opening game, the Lions struggled early on, going in 12-3 down at the break.

They looked far better after the interval and, despite some defensive lapses, were the deserved 22-17 winners.

The Lions are again odds on for victory, being priced up at 5/6, while the wounded Boks are 11/10.

With so much to play for, a cagey affair could be the case on the Cape. As a result, there could be value in the 22/1 for a draw.

2nd Test - South Africa vs British & Irish Lions Team News

Both sides have made three changes to their starting XVs, while their respective benches also have a different look to them.

Gatland went early with his team news, rewarding Mako Vunipola for his fine showing off the bench last Saturday with a start at loosehead prop, replacing Rory Sutherland. The Kiwi has also opted for experience at scrum-half with Conor Murray coming in for Ali Price, while Chris Harris' extra bulk has been added to the midfield, replacing Elliot Daly, who drops to the replacements.

The Lions coach's hunch that South Africa would look to muscle up proved well-founded just hours later when South Africa named a six-two split on the bench, a ploy that paid dividends as they won the 2019 World Cup.

In the front row, props Steven Kitshoff and Frans Malherbe have replaced the injured Ox Nche and benched Trevor Nyakane on either side of Bongi Mbonambi, while Jasper Wiese comes in at number eight ahead of Kwagga Smith.

Smith will ride the pine and sit alongside Marco van Staden, who has added extra cover in the back row.

2nd Test South Africa vs British & Irish Lions Prediction

British & Irish Lions to Win - BET NOW

Despite their lack of match action, South Africa were expected to get through last week's opener on adrenaline but noticeably tailed off in the second half.

Having 80 minutes of Test rugby in the legs will boost them but the lack of fans in the stands arguably hurts the Boks more than any other country.

The South Africans famously feed off the atmosphere around them and while emotions will be high, and they will come out of the blocks at a ferocious pace, the cool heads in the Lions side give them an edge over 80 minutes and should see them take the series.

British & Irish Lions to Win by 1-10 points - BET NOW

Another tight game is likely in Cape Town and don't be surprised to see the hosts win the race to 10 points as they did last week.

The Lions came on strong after the interval, though, making the most of their opponents' collective fatigue.

That lack of match fitness saw the penalty count rise, allowing Dan Biggar and Owen Farrell to keep the scoreboard ticking over and with attacking chances again likely to be at a premium, another narrow margin of victory is expected.

Duhan van der Merwe - Anytime Tryscorer - BET NOW

Scotland wing Van der Merwe, who was born in the Western Cape, increasingly came into the minutes ticked by last week. However, his defensive foibles, most notably under the high ball, led to suggestions that he could lose his place.

Gatland has stood by his man and Harris' selection inside him could prove fruitful after the duo combined well during the Six Nations.

Although they've bulked up, the Lions will still look to move the Bok pack around and spread the play.

Van der Merwe had one great break last Saturday when he almost scored, only for an earlier knock-on to be called.

The 26-year-old's direct opponent Cheslin Kolbe is the real danger man on the field but he is unlikely to get as many chances to strike as the Scotland star.
