Ali Carter and Stuart Bingham meet in The Masters final on Sunday as both seek their first titles in the Triple Crown event.
Bingham has one major title to his name after landing the World Championship in 2015 and reached the final thanks to victories over Mark Williams, Kyren Wilson and Dave Gilbert.
Carter has never managed to pick up one of snooker's biggest prizes but has twice finished as the runner-up at the Crucible, losing to Ronnie O'Sullivan on both occasions.
As fate would have it, 'The Captain' is only in the tournament due to O'Sullivan's decision to skip the event and it may well be that the man who has denied him a major title previously will be the reason he finally breaks his duck.
Carter has had the harder run to the showpiece as he has faced Mark Selby, John Higgins and Shaun Murphy, all of whom are former champions, at Alexandra Palace.
Ali Carter vs Stuart Bingham Betting Odds
Bingham is rated as the odds-on favourite to win this best-of-19 frames showdown and the world number 14 is a best price 7/10 to take the title, with Carter priced at 13/10.
Carter, the world number 17, is 1/2 with a +2.5 frame handicap and Bingham is Evens with a -1.5 handicap.
Ali Carter vs Stuart Bingham Prediction
Ali Carter to win @ 7/5 - BET NOW
Bingham has won the last seven meetings between these two players and in that time Carter has managed to win just eight frames, giving the favourite an aggregate victory of 31-8.
However, Carter has been stronger on the biggest stages in recent years and has reached the quarter-finals of the World Championship in each of the last two seasons. The 40-year-old has also faced tougher opposition to reach the final and has looked comfortable throughout the tournament, beating both Murphy and Higgins by three frame margins and Selby 6-4.
Carter looks the man in form and has the extra motivation of having a real chance to claim a first major title of a career that has now spanned three decades.
Ali Carter to win 10-6 @ 13/1 - BET NOW
The correct score market offers big prices for anyone looking for an outside bet and the 13/1 on offer for Carter to win 10-6 has some appeal. The four-time ranking event winner tends to win convincingly when he does pick up victories, and none of his nine most recent wins have come in deciding frames. Bingham also has a habit of letting games get away from him when he does fall behind and with that in mind a small stake on 10-6 to Carter could well be worth the risk.
