Day three of the UK Championship gets underway this afternoon with 16 high-class third-round matches. Plenty of big-hitters have already departed York, with Shaun Murphy, Mark Williams, Mark Selby and deafening champion Neil Robertson all facing early exits.

That seems to have left the path clear for the in-form and recent Champion of Champions Judd Trump. The Ace is now the 2/1 favourite to lift the UK crown, with seven-time champ Ronnie O’Sullivan a 10/3 chance and three-time winner John Higgins next at 6/1

Trump lines up against Matt Selt in round three, with O’Sullivan taking on Mark King and Higgins will face Zhao Xintong. None of those matches look completely straightforward and it will be interesting to see if the big three can avoid going the same way as the likes of Robertson and Selby.

Graeme Dott vs Jack Lisowski Prediction

(Monday, 19:00)
Graeme Dott to win – BET NOW

Away from the more high-profile matches there could be a bit of value slipping under the radar.

Graeme Dott is rated an 11/8 chance when he takes on Jack Lisowski and that price seems to underrate the Scot.

Dott breezed past the capable and in-form Jimmy Robertson 6-2 in the second-round and it was clear from his opening tussle against Jamie O’Neill that the Pocket Dynamo’s game was in good shape. The Scot rattled in breaks of 109, 131 and 132 against O’Neill, and while Dott isn’t as consistent as he once was, there is still plenty of ability left.

The 2006 world champion made the final of the 2018 German Masters, he backed that up with another runners-up spot in the 2020 World Grand Prix and he has also made the a final and semi-final of the Championship League in recent seasons. That suggests that Dott still has a lot to offer.

Lisowski is a good operator when on-song and he showed that when making three ranking event finals last season. However, there is no consistency to Jackpot’s game and it has been a totally different story this year. Lisowski failed to qualify for both the German Masters and English Open, he was beaten by Barry Pinches in the first-round of the British Open and he was then whitewashed 4-0 by Jackson Page in the Northern Ireland Open. That’s hardly an inspiring recent record and at 11/8 it could pay to side with Dott.

Ben Woollaston vs Liam Highfield Prediction

(Monday, 19:00)
Ben Woollaston to win – BET NOW

At 10/11 Ben Woollaston looks a good bet when he faces Liam Highfield in round three. The Leicester potter put in a superb performance when upsetting Yan Bingtao last time out and there had been signs that a return to form wouldn’t be too long in coming.

Woollaston is capable of deep runs and he showed that when making the final of the Welsh Open in 2015. Of course, the 34-year-old hasn’t really kicked on since that runners-up spot, but he did reach the final of last year’s Championship League and perhaps results may be about to turn in his favour now that his confidence seems to have returned. Highfield is nothing more than a solid performer and an on-song Woollaston should be too strong.
