WWE’s January’s annual pay-per-view is upon us this weekend and it looks like the most open Royal Rumble for years! Our reality TV man and resident WWE expert, Ross Casey is on hand to run through the contenders...

2017 Royal Rumble Tips

Sunday will be the 30th ever Royal Rumble after the first one was won by Hacksaw Jim Duggan way back in 1988. This time around we are in the Alamodome in Texas with an expected crowd of over 40,000 people!

I believe that the returning Undertaker will win the Royal Rumble, setting up a mouth-watering Wrestlemania match against either Smackdown Live champion AJ Styles or number one contender, John Cena.

He is currently available at a best price of 4/1 which looks an absolutely massive price for the man who claims to have “dug 29 holes, for 29 souls” ahead of the 2017 Royal Rumble match.

2017 Royal Rumble Odds

Randy Orton @ 2/1 - BET NOW

Randy Orton has been a member of the Wyatt Family for a while now and even won the Smackdown Live tag team championships along with leader Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. The Royal Rumble betting market makes him 2/1  favourite as many people are expecting him to turn face and shed his Wyatt colours on Sunday night.

Bill Goldberg @ 4/1 - BET NOW

Despite now being 50 years-old and not wrestling for over 10 years, he returned at last year’s Survivor Series and beat the seemingly indestructible Brock Lesnar in less than two minutes.

It was one of the most shocking moments of 2016 and made Goldberg look like a genuine threat to anyone and everyone. However, I see him being eliminated by Brock here, setting up a clash at Wrestlemania.

The Undertaker @ 4/1 – BET NOW

I fancy the Undertaker to win the Royal Rumble this year as I think it is something the crowd want to see, and will setup an epic Wrestlemania main event with the legendary Undertaker trying to win his first title since 2009.

Braun Strowman @ 5/1 - BET NOW

Braun Strowman is an absolute monster of a man, and I can see why he is joint favourite as he has been positioned as such by the WWE with decisive wins since he broke away from the Wyatt family during the brand split.

I can see Roman vs Braun as a potential Wrestlemania main event, but I personally hope they don’t go down this route as the fans will not be into such a main event in my opinion.

Finn Balor @ 11/2 - BET NOW

Finn Balor has been out injured since he suffered a shoulder injury in the match where he won the Universal title. Many are predicting that Finn will be a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble and if he is, he has a very strong chance of going all the way, to possibly de-throne Kevin Owens for the title he never lost.

Samoa Joe @ 11/2 – BET NOW

Samoa Joe has been a man reborn since he joined NXT. His performances have been above and beyond what he was putting in during his later years with rival company TNA and he is widely expected to debut in the full roster this Sunday.

I would be amazed if he won though and believe he is far too short at 6/1. He doesn’t yet have the star power in my opinion to headline a Wrestlemania with just two months to build his persona to the non-hardcore fan who won’t know who he is at this point.

Chris Jericho @ 8/1 - BET NOW

Did anyone believe that Chris Jericho would be as popular as he is in 2017? His amazing promo work has gripped fans and ‘the list’ is one of the most over things on Raw these days. I would love to see him win this and eventually face his best friend Kevin Owens, as that story has been a major thread of the Raw programme for months now. I think he is a decent outside bet.

Brock Lesnar @ 14/1 – BET NOW

Brock Lesnar is called the beast incarnate for a reason and he is capable of destroying the field at the Royal Rumble, but his Royal Rumble odds are very bad at present. He is possibly still being punished for his failed drug test in the UFC and the bookies don’t give Paul Heyman’s client much hope here!

The Miz @ 16/1 – BET NOW

The Miz is possibly one of the most hated heels in the company at the moment, and he had a simply incredible 2016, winning over many fans with his character and in-ring work. I think an unexpected Miz win would elicit an amazing heel reaction from the crowd and would work perfectly as he is despised by Smackdown Live general manager Daniel Bryan.

However, he is 16/1 for a reason and it would be a surprise victory for the A-Lister who has never won this match.

Baron Corbin @ 20/1 – BET NOW

The ‘Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin is beginning his ascent up the rankings on Smackdown Live, but his decisive loss to John Cena last week is a clear sign that he is not about to break through the glass ceiling just yet.

Sami Zayn @ 25/1 – BET NOW

Sami Zayn qualified for the Royal Rumble this week by defetaing Seth Rollins in a great match on Raw. The 'Underdog from the Underground' is available at 10/1 but using our odds comparison you can get him at a far better price of 25/1. He will likely run into his rival Braun Strowman and be eliminated though, in my opinion.

The Royal Rumble betting market is stacked full of potential winners and we have all the latest Royal Rumble odds in our dedicated WWE betting centre.
