The latest attempt from the BBC to bring back the reality TV fans is Tumble. It’s the celebrity based gymnastics competition hosted by Alex Jones, featuring the likes of Sarah Harding, Ian ‘H’ Watkins and oddly, boxer Carl Froch. Resident reality TV guru Ross Casey is on hand to guide you through the betting…
Ross’ recommended Tips
(Tips made on 13 August 2014)
John Partridge @ 7/4 – BET NOW - Now 2/1 *ELIMINATED*
Ian ‘H’ Watkins @ 7/1 – BET NOW - Now 5/1
My two picks for this show are the favourite, John Partridge – who top scored in week one showing nimble agility, strength and poise in his routine. He has a muscular build, just like Carl Froch but I think he has a bit more technical ability than the champion boxer.
For this reason, I am going to go with John as my first pick. Second up is former STEPS member Ian ‘H’ Watkins. He showed himself to have a body and physical attributes that suit gymnastics after a career in the west end and I believe he has more to show – especially as he was struggling with injury. He should also have a big fan base following his tenure in STEPS.
THE OTHER CONTENDERS
*Prices correct as of 12th September 2014.*
BOBBY LOCKWOOD (8/13) – BET NOW
Bobby Lockwood plays lead character, Rhydian Morris, in CBBC’s supernatural series Wolfblood. He moved ahead of his rivals in the betting after John's exit and it's at the floor events that he comes to the fore as he uses his childhood ballet training for experience.
CARL FROCH (16/1) – BET NOW
Current Super Middleweight Champion of the world, Carl Froch is the surprise entrant into this competition, but he has said he sees this as training – as usually between fights he puts on a lot of weight. He was impressive on the rings – a strength based medium – which of course suits his build. How will he fare in the other events? We will have to see…
SARAH HARDING (20/1) – BET NOW
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has been labelled a wild child and a party-goer in the past, but she will be trying to show her athletic and elegant side here. Sarah impressed on the rings, and looks to be in a two horse race with Sugababe Amelle to be the top female in the competition.
AMELLE BERRABAH (12/1) – BET NOW
Singer Amelle Berrabah is best known as a current member of chart-topping pop trio The Sugababes. Despite a handful of blisters, she proved a real hit in the opening week and looks one to watch in this competition and was excellent on the floor last week.
LUCY MECKLENBURGH (25/1) – BET NOW
The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh is also a keen fitness fanatic with a top fitness website, so she is in great shape – but her first week performance was stalling and lacking in intensity. For those reasons the bookies have made her the big price of 25/1.
