Medvedev v Nadal tips Betting Tips
Daniil Medvedev has never beaten Rafael Nadal in three meetings but Russia's rising star is favourite to get the better of the Spanish legend and reach the final of the ATP Tour Finals.
Rafael Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev Predictions
Medvedev required just two matches to book a spot in the semi-finals at London's O2 Arena, beating familiar foe Alexander Zverev in straight sets on Monday, and then doing likewise to a below-par Novak Djokovic to seal qualification two days later.
Nadal, meanwhile, has had to work harder to reach the semi-finals of an event which he has never won.
After beating Andrey Rublev 6-4 6-3 in his opener, the 34-year-old was defeated by Dominic Thiem but sealed his progress by downing Stefanos Tsitsipas in Thursday's winner-takes-all contest.
Rafel Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev Betting Odds
The manner of Medvedev's performances in London have clearly caught the attention of the bookies, who think he should be favourite to down 20-time Grand Slam champion Nadal.
Medvedev, who arrived in the UK on the back of a title win at the Paris Masters, is in brilliant form but he has it all to prove against Nadal, who he is yet to beat in three previous meetings.
Significantly, each of them came on hard courts. For all Nadal's prowess on clay, he is still able to produce five-star performances on faster surfaces and could well have won each of his three group-stage matches were it not for the brilliance of US Open champion Dominic Thiem.
Nadal and Thiem traded blows in a classic and the Spaniard blew a 5-2 lead in the first-set tie-break and failed to capitalise on a break of serve in the second in a 7-6 7-6 defeat.
He is unlikely to pass up on those opportunities should they present themselves again and, in Medvedev, he faces an opponent who he beat both at the 2019 US and in this event last year.
Rafael Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev Betting Tips
While Nadal has held sway in their recent meetings, they tend to be tight affairs and a similar scenario is likely to unfold with a place in the Tour Finals final on the line.
Medvedev pushed Nadal all the way in the US Open final last year, recovering from two sets down to force a decider which the Spaniard would win 6-4, and there is value in backing this to be a long match.
Nadal's battling qualities are famous while Medvedev is likely to lay everything on the line in pursuit of what would arguably be the biggest title of his already impressive career. Backing over 23.5 games looks like a shrewd play.
On a similar note, it could pay to back a tiebreak in an expected close contest.
Nadal has been broken just three times in this tournament, while Medvedev will be confident that his powerful serve is capable of nullifying his opponents' famed returning ability.
There was little to separate them at the O2 Arena 12 months ago. Nadal emerged victorious in a final-set tie-break, the second in the match, and there is every chance of a set going the distance when they meet again.
