Daniil Medvedev vs Dominic Thiem Betting Tips
There will be a first-time winner of the ATP Finals for the fifth year in a row as Daniil Medvedev and Dominic Thiem meet in the final on Sunday.
Thiem reached the final last year but lost out in three sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Medvedev is making his second appearance in the season-ending showpiece after falling at the round-robin stage in 2019.
Medvedev v Thiem Betting Odds
Medvedev is the favourite at 3/4 and the world number four is the form player heading into the final. The Russian has won all four of his matches at the Tour Finals so far and arrived in London on the back of winning the Paris Masters.
Thiem is rated at 6/5 and the Austrian could be a shrewd bet to claim the title as the more experienced and decorated, player. The 27-year-old broke his Grand Slam duck at the US Open earlier this year and already has the experience of playing in the final of this event.
Medvedev v Thiem Prediction
Medvedev impressed with a 2-1 win over Rafael Nadal in his semi-final on Saturday night as the 24-year-old claimed his first win over the 20-time Grand Slam champion.
The Moscow-born star beat both Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev in straight sets in the round-robin stage and will be in confident mood for the final, but Thiem should have the quality to take the title.
The world number three beat Tsitsipas and Nadal in the group stage but took his foot off the gas for his third match, losing a dead rubber to Andrey Rublev. The 27-year-old stepped up for his semi-final though and claimed a memorable win over Djokovic.
Thiem took the opening set and saw four match points come and go in the second before being dragged into a decider. The US Open champion fell 4-0 behind in the third set tie break but hit six points in a row as he fought back to claim the win. Medvedev hasn't really been dragged into that kind of battle in London and Thiem has already proven his ability to dig deep, find another level and most importantly get over the winning line.
Given the form of these two players heading into Sunday's final, there is a real chance this match-up could go the distance, and a Thiem win in three sets looks a solid option.
Medvedev v Thiem Tips
The two finalists have met four times previously on the ATP Tour and Thiem leads the head-to-head 3-1. Their most recent meeting came at the US Open where the eventual champion went on to claim a 3-0 win, and incredibly only one of their previous matches has seen both players win a set.
That pattern could well change on Sunday as both players will give their all to try and land the title. Thiem looks to have the quality to take the trophy, but Medvedev should be able to at least take a set.
The Russian tends to raise his levels on the biggest stages as he showed on Saturday by picking up his first win over Nadal, while he also played out a five-set epic with the Spaniard in the US Open final in 2019 as he narrowly missed out on claiming a first major title.
Here are our three tips for Sunday's final at the O2 Arena.
