While there have been shocks aplenty in the women’s French Open, the surprises have been few and far between in the men’s equivalent and the final four features a quartet ranked inside the world’s top six.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev lock horns in one semi-final, but all eyes will be on the last-four duel between old rivals Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Nadal is chasing a record-extending 14th French Open title and a fifth on the spin while Djokovic is bidding to add to the sole clay crown he collected in 2016. The Serb has finished runner-up on four occasions.

The only set dropped by the King of Clay across his five Parisian assignments came in his quarter-final clash with Diego Schwartzman, with him winning 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-0.

Djokovic, however, was taken the distance by Italian youngster Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round and also required four sets to shake off ninth seed Matteo Berrettini in the last eight.

Nadal is 4/11 to tee-up another Roland Garros final, with the world number one 12/5 to land a knockout blow.

Nadal to win 3-1 - BET NOW

Nadal won last year’s French Open without dropping a set but hopes of defending his crown with another unblemished record are over after he was taken to four sets by Schwartzman in the last round.

But the Spaniard finished the match strongly, taking the final set 6-0, and it was arguably an even more distinguished performance than earlier triumphs over Alexei Popyrin, Richard Gasquet, Cameron Norrie and Jannik Sinner.

It highlighted that Nadal was very much the man to beat again and, armed with his favourite surface at his favourite venue, it would be some surprise were he not to get the job done.

Nadal has won the last five meetings between the pair on his beloved clay, but he did drop a set in two of those wins, which includes last month’s final in Rome.

In fact, Djokovic has won at least a set in ten of his last 13 encounters with the Spaniard on this slower terrain, which offers hope for a 3-1 Nadal victory at 11/4.

This is a fierce rivalry that goes way back to 2007 and it will be the 58th competitive meeting between the legendary duo.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head battle narrowly, with the Serb 29-28 in front, but that is predominantly down to his exploits on grass and hard court.

However, on clay, there have been 24 meetings and Nadal unsurprisingly holds an emphatic 17-7 lead, which highlights his dominance on this slower surface.

The Spaniard’s last defeat at Roland Garros came against Djokovic in 2015, but he has won his last 35 matches in Paris and is fancied to prevail again.

But the Serbian world number one, who boasts 18 Grand Slam titles, is one of the fiercest competitors ever and won’t go down without a fight. This heavyweight duo locked horns in the final in Rome in May, with Nadal prevailing 7-5 1-6 6-3.

Given that the three-set duel lasted 28 games, there has to be every chance this longer contest features over 35.5 games at 7/10. Nadal’s quarter-final win over Schwartzman lasted 35 games and that was despite the Spaniard winning the final set to nil.
