The final Grand Slam event of the year takes place at the USTA National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York and is played on hard courts, previously the tournament had been on grass and clay. The main court is the Arthur Ashe Stadium with a capacity of 22,547. Last year Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in four sets ending the match with a runaway 6-1 final set. Ray Corniche assesses the state of the market for the 2014 renewal.

Cilic v Nishikori
Over 41.5 games@ 51/50
And so we come to the unexpected US Open Final with 10th seed Kei Nishikori up against the towering Croat Marin Cilic, seeded number 14. These two players have endured very different seasons so far with the Japanese player putting in a career best campaign which has included a semi-final in Halle, a final against Nadal in Madrid and two wins in Barcelona and Memphis.
In contrast the giant Cilic has shown very little form since a good start to the season when he won a 250 point ranking event in Zagreb at the beginning of February and three weeks later a hard court event in Delray.
But there can be no denying that the big man has finally found his mojo here in New York with some simply awesome attacking tennis where not only has his service been on fire, but that giant forehand has been used to the extreme.
Cilic loves to run around his sometimes suspect sliced backhand and crash in that winning groundstroke and we saw it to maximum effect against Federer in his semi-final when he lost only 11 games in a straight sets success.
Nishikori leads his rival 5-2 in head to heads, with one match apiece at Flushing Meadows and it really is a clash of styles there tonight. Many of you will want to be on a Cilic success and at betting odds of 11/10 it is hard to defend the indefensible especially with his confident at an all-time high.
But I would rather be more conservative and play the total games market of over 41.5 at 51/50 as this could be a long night in the Big Apple especially as both players will come into the final relatively fresh following straight set wins.
