NFL Week 4 features a fantastic cross-conference match-up between the AFC’s New England Patriots and the NFC’s Green Bay Packers. The Pats go into Week 4 with a 1-2 record, while the Packers are 2-1.

The Packers are in a tight NFC North, with three teams (Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers) at 2-1. The Green Bay Packers are coming off a 14-12 win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Packers raced out to a 14-3 halftime lead but failed to score in the second half.

The team’s defence limited Tampa Bay to just one touchdown late in the game. The Bucs had the chance to force overtime, but Green Bay’s defence came up big to stop Tom Brady’s attempted pass on a two-point conversion.

New England lost 37-26 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. Quarterback Mac Jones threw for 321 yards, but was picked off three times. The Pats trailed 14-13 at halftime, but the Ravens' offence came to life in the third quarter. New England’s defence has given up 71 points this season, while the offence has scored 50 points.

Can the New England Patriots get back on track or will the Packers post a win at Lambeau Field?

New England Patriots @ Green Bay Packers Team News

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is unlikely to play on Sunday due to an ankle injury, and backup quarterback Ben Hoyer is expected to come into play the position. A backup quarterback playing against a strong defence isn’t ideal for the Pats. Lambeau field is a difficult place to go.

There is still hope Jones can play. He hasn’t practised this week, but the quarterback’s ankle injury is improving. Hoyer has only made 39 previous starts as an NFL quarterback.

The Packers went unbeaten in eight games at home in 2021. They lost their most recent home game against the Patriots. However, the game was played in 2014 and Tom Brady was New England’s quarterback. Recent game trends are unlikely to have any impact on the outcome of Sunday’s game in Green Bay.

Green Bay cornerback Jaire Alexander is unlikely to play. He didn’t practice on Thursday after sustaining a groin injury against Tampa Bay in Week 3. Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) and tight end Marcedes Lewis (groin) did not practice on Thursday either.

There is a strong possibility that the quartet of running back A.J. Dillon (knee), outside linebacker Jonathan Garvin (hip), offensive tackle Elgton Jenkins (knee), and wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) will be available for head coach Matt LeFleur on Sunday.

New England Patriots @ Green Bay Packers H2H

New England and Green Bay have played just 12 times previously in the NFL’s history. The series is tied 6-6. Games are few and far between the Pats and Packers due to them being in opposite conferences.

Their last head-to-head meeting was in November 2018. The New England Patriots won the game 31-17 at home.

Due to the time in between games, there are not a lot of trends to go by ahead of Week 4. The Packers are 2-1 and playing well, while the Pats are 1-2 and likely to play with a backup quarterback.

New England Patriots @ Green Bay Packers Predictions

Player passing touchdowns: Aaron Rodgers over 1.5 touchdowns @ 5/7 - BET NOW

Our betting tips prediction is for the trend of Green Bay winning and Rodgers throwing over 1.5 touchdowns to continue on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers to win both halves @ 11/10 - BET NOW

The Packers are rolling into Week 4. Their 14-12 win against the Bucs a week ago was a significant confidence booster. Green Bay are on a two-game winning streak and should stretch it to three this weekend. Our betting tips is for Green Bay to stay hot and to win both halves against the Pats. The defence could tee off against Ben Hoyer if the backup quarterback starts the game.

Over/Under 40.5 points: Under @ 10/11 - BET NOW

The Packers’ defence is playing well and should keep this a low-scoring game. The Pats are likely to play with a backup quarterback. Even if Mac Jones is passed fit on Sunday, he may not last the entire game due to a bad ankle. All three of Green Bay’s games this season finished with under 40.5 points. Our betting tips prediction is for Week 4’s game with New England to finish with under 40.5 points.
