Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder

Thunder To Win @ 11/10 - BET NOW

Thunder had to beat Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania on Sunday to stay alive in the competition - and they did just that! Skipper Shane Watson’s first double-figure score of BBL06, 55 off 31 balls, steered the reigning champions to an all-important six wicket win. But now they face an equally crucial match against bitter Sydney rivals the Sixers who will be desperate to knock them out.

The Sixers absolutely obliterated the Thunder when the two teams met in the first game of the tournament. Their emphatic nine-wicket win set the tone for what’s proving to be a good season for the pink shirts who sit second in the table with four wins for six. Thunder scraped through the round-robin stage last year on their way to glory and I reckon they’ll do just enough to keep their hopes alive on Saturday.

Perth Scorchers v Melbourne Stars

Stars To Win @ 11/10 - BET NOW

I tipped the Stars to win the Melbourne derby last week and they delivered in style, winning by 46 runs thanks to top class performances by Kevin Pietersen and Adam Zampa. And having just won a nail-bitingly tense encounter with the Strikers to move up to third in the table I reckon the momentum they’ve generated will assist them to a big away win over the Scorchers.

Both sides have won three from five and a win here will go a long way to ensure progression to the finals. But the ‘star’ power Melbourne possess in the form of KP has seemingly galvanised them into a team capable of more than the sum of their parts. You’d have got good odds on bowler Ben Hilfenhaus hitting 32 not out to see them to victory by three balls but when the chips were down, the Tasmanian delivered.

Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades

Strikers To Win @ ODDS TBC

This clash sees fifth take on sixth on the ladder but it’s the Strikers who have two of the statistically best performing players in the competition so far. Ben Dunk is the second highest scorer with 267 runs to his name and a potent strike rate of 170, while off-break bowler Travis Head’s economy of 5.86 is also just one off the top. Add Chris Jordan’s nine wickets to the equation and you start to wonder how Adelaide have lost four matches from six!

The Renegades are the lowest scoring side in BBL06 so far with a total of just 822 runs which equals 164.4 runs per innings. In terms of their bowling attack, James Pattinson is going for more than 12 runs an over, a stat which will certainly give his captain Aaron Finch a headache. They’ve lost their last two games and only a controversial D/L win over the Stars is keeping them from propping up the ladder. The Strikers will be too strong at home.
