Pakistan v Australia T20 TipsRay Corniche - 11:10, 3rd October 2014
Australia take on Pakistan in a one off T20 international in Dubai on Sunday afternoon with both sides looking to hone their skills in the shorter forms of the game ahead of next year’s Cricket World Cup. Tom Powell has been offering tips throughout the summer on international cricket and has two selections to share for this clash…
Pakistan v Australia (Sun, 17:00)
The first selection is a fairly straightforward one with Australia clear favourites to win the match and rightly so. Australia are currently down in fifth in the T20 rankings (two places behind Pakistan) but they are higher in the ODI rankings and improving rapidly in the shortest form of the game.
Pakistan are an inconsistent side in all forms of the game and their recent form is pretty poor with just one win in their last six matches. In last year’s World T20 they never got out of the groups after losing to West Indies and India so I’d back Australia here at a best price 1.68 on the exchanges.
At bigger odds of 5/2 David Warner could be value in the top Australian batsman market. The big hitting opener is favourite in this market along with fellow opener Aaron Finch but he comes into this match in slightly better form. Warner’s last 10 T20 innings have seen him average 53.75 with five half centuries hit in that time and just one failure to get out of double figures. Finch’s form is a touch more erratic with 0, 10, 13 and 89 scored in his last four T20 innings so back Warner to rack up a decent total on Sunday.
