Pakistan punched their ticket to the T20 Cricket World Cup on Wednesday with a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the first semifinal. Now, on Thursday, India and England will play for the chance to play Pakistan for the T20 Cricket World Cup trophy.

India go into the semifinal after topping Group 2. Team India picked up eight points in the group stage and posted a net run rate of 1.319. England, on the other hand, finished second in Group 1 with seven points.

The English started the Super 12 slowly but picked up pace as the stage went along. England finished with the same number of points as group winner New Zealand but finished second due to a net run rate of 0.473.

India have been brilliant at the T20 Cricket World Cup in Australia. The team has got almost everything right from its bowling down to its batting. South Africa were the only team in the Super 12 to defeat India. India dominated in their other games at the tournament and had no difficulty getting through the group.

India vs England T20 Betting Odds

odds

Bookmakers have India as the slight betting favourite at the best betting odds of 4/5. The Indians hold a small advantage in head-to-head matches versus England in T20I. The teams played 22 matches with India winning 12 of them.

England are at the best betting odds of 1/1 to win against India and progress to the final versus Pakistan. The English have a lethal stable of bowlers capable of getting India’s batters out. However, the batting has struggled at times at the World Cup. The bowling has certainly outshone the batting down under.

India are in a drought in ICC tournaments. The team hasn’t won an event since claiming the 2013 Champions Trophy. Team India reached the final T20 Cricket World Cup in 2014 and the semifinals in 2016.

Many fans would have predicted an India versus England tournament final when the competition started. These are two of the world’s biggest T20 cricket powers. England have plenty of flaws, which their defeat to Ireland showed in the Super 12.

Both teams will be up for the knockout fixture. Group matches don’t have the intensity of the knockout stage, so expect the big guns to step up for both teams.

India vs England T20 H2H

India and England played 22 times previously in T20 cricket. The Indians posted 12 wins to England’s 10 during those 22 international fixtures.

Two matches were played on neutral grounds with India winning both of them. England’s 10 wins against India can be split down the middle with five on home soil and five away from home.

Along with India’s two victories on neutral ground, they won six at home and four on the road.

India vs England Key Players

India’s Suryakumar Yadav is having a fantastic tournament. He is likely to be named the player of the tournament, as long as the men in blue continue to win matches.

Yadav has three half-centuries in five fixtures at the tournament. He has an incredible 193.96 strike rate. Yadav is at the best betting odds of 3/1 to be India’s top batter on Thursday.

Hardik Pandya is India’s top-performing all-rounder. Pandya is 11/1 to be the man of the match. He has eight wickets at the tournament.

For England, Sam Curran is one to watch. He is 3/1 to be England’s top bowler in the semifinal. Curran continues to be the team’s top bowler while the offence has stuttered.

Alex Hales was England’s top batter versus Sri Lanka going for 47 runs in 30 balls. England are not hitting well, however. The bats could haunt them versus India. England won’t have Dawid Malan, as he is unavailable for the fixture.

Predicted teams:

India: Rohit Sharma(c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant/Dinesh Karthik (wk), Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh

England: Jos Buttler (c and wk), Alex Hales, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

India vs England Betting Tips

India are in fine form heading into the semifinal. The men in blue have been fantastic and have all the momentum.

England’s bats have been cold for much of the tournament. The English will need a mighty effort to overcome India. Even then, it may not be enough to defeat India.

Team India have a better head-to-head against England. It won’t be an easy match, as England’s bowlers will make it difficult. However, India should come out on top in the semifinal and punch their ticket to the T20 Cricket World Cup final. England’s sluggish hitting down under should cost them.
