The Coppa Italia quarterfinals kick off this week with eight teams battling for a piece of silverware. Last season’s beaten finalists, Juventus, will host Lazio at the Allianz Arena in Turin on Thursday night.

Lazio are seven-time Coppa Italia winner and picked up their last trophy in 2019. Coach Maurizio Sarri will go to Turin to play his former team with the aim of making the last four of the competition.

Juventus are still reeling from a 15-point deduction due to financial mismanagement imposed by sporting authorities. While Juventus claim to have done nothing wrong and other clubs are getting away with the same practices, officials have punished the biggest club in Italian football.

The Bianconeri’s off-field problems are making some very on-field issues for the club. Juventus are winless in back-to-back games in Serie A and were beaten at home 2-0 by Monza at the weekend. Can Lazio benefit from Juventus’s poor state and win on Thursday in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals?

Sportsbooks have Juventus as the favourites to win the fixture at odds of 11/10. Lazio are the underdog at odds of 11/4. Bookmakers have the teams at odds of 9/4 to draw at full-time.

Juventus vs Lazio Team News

Juventus cashed in on United States international midfielder Weston McKennie this week by selling him to Premier League club Leeds United for €33 million plus add-ons. McKennie had become surplus to requirements in Turin and Juventus received a large fee for him.

Massimiliano Allegri has a few players on the injury list going into the game. Forward Juan Cuadrado is a doubt due to physical discomfort. Forward Federico Chiesa is also suffering from some physical discomfort and will likely miss the game.

Defender Leonardo Bonucci could return following a fitness issue. Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Kaio Jorge is suffering from a tendon injury and could be out of action for some time. Juventus have scored 41 times this season in 27 games in all competitions. They have conceded on 31 occasions against their opponents.

Compared to Allegri, Sarri has no fresh injury issues going into the match on Thursday night in the Coppa Italia. The Biancocelesti are led in goals this season in all competitions by the trio of Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson, and Mattia Zaccagni.

Lazio are a high-scoring team thanks to Sarri’s free-flowing tactics. Lazio scored 46 goals in their opening 27 matches in all competitions but conceded 27 times.

Juventus vs Lazio H2H

Thursday’s match at the Allianza Arena will be the second meeting of the season between Juventus and Lazio in all competitions. The teams previously met in Serie A in November with Juventus rolling to a 3-0 win. Moise Kean scored on either side of halftime and Arkadiusz Milik added a third just before full-time.

Juventus are unbeaten in six straight games versus Lazio in all competitions. Four of those six matches ended as wins for Juventus. Lazio’s last five trips to Turin to play Juventus ended without victories.

Lazio have not played particularly well on the road this season with a record of 5W-3D-4L. Juventus, on the other hand, have a home record of 9W-3D-3L. The club’s off-field issues may play a significant role in Thursday’s result, however.

Juventus lost 2-0 at home to Monza at the weekend in a game many onlookers would have expected them to win without any trouble. Juve are winless in three of their last four games with two of those matches ending in defeats.

Juventus reached the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia with a round-of-16 win over Monza 2-1. The Bianconeri entered the competition in the round of 16. Lazio also entered at the round of 16, as they defeated Serie A’s Bologna 1-0 at home.

Juventus vs Lazio Betting Tips

odds

There are problems at Juventus and new evidence suggests things could get worse for the Bianconeri. The problems may go deep and it could result in the biggest Italian club facing more sanctions.

Fans are angry over the issues, not with the club, but with Serie A and Italian officials, and they have called for the boycotting of media outlets that could put pressure on officials to remove any punishment placed on Juventus.

The issues could result in Lazio getting a result in Turin on Thursday. However, Lazio do not have a strong record away against Juventus. Juve are slight favourites to win against Lazio at 11/10. A double chance Juventus win or draw is priced at ¼.

The last two head-to-head meetings between these clubs finished with over 2.5 goals. Bookmakers aren’t sure if this game is going to see many goals. Odds on over 2.5 goals are priced at 43/40. Three of Lazio’s last four games in all competitions ended with under 2.5 goals. Juventus saw under 2.5 goals in just one of their last four matches. This could turn out to be a high-scoring match.

Juventus are 8/15 to qualify for the semifinals. The Coppa Italia quarterfinals are single-legged and will go to extra time in the case of a draw.

Juventus vs Lazio Prediction

odds

Juventus are in a bad situation which could give Lazio an upper hand on Thursday night in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals. The Biancocelesti are winless in six straight games against Juventus, but a cup quarterfinal could see the Rome-based club rise to the occasion.

Thursday’s game is the ideal time to use a double chance Juventus win or Lazio win selection. Odds on a double chance Juventus win or Lazio win are at 1/3. The odds aren’t as strong as they are for the 1x2 bet, but you provide yourself with a safety net with the double chance.

Lazio are unbeaten in five straight games in all competitions with three of those matches ending as wins. The Biancocelesti are in form and could pick up a win in Turin for the first time in a few seasons. Juventus’s problems off the pitch could continue to cause issues on it. Our betting tips prediction is to back a double chance Juventus win or Lazio win for insurance.
