About AC Milan
AC Milan are one of the three big Italian football clubs alongside Juventus and city rivals, Inter Milan. The famous red and black kit is one of the most recognisable in world football. It is a shirt that has been worn by legendary players including Clarence Seedorf, Marco van Basten, Kaka, Paolo Maldini, and many more.
The Rossoneri returned to the UEFA Champions League group stage for the 2021/22 season after a long absence. AC Milan have experienced a long barren spell in terms of league and European trophies. The sleeping giant may have been woken up a season ago, however. Now, AC Milan are on the path to return to the heights of Italian and European football.
About AC Milan
In terms of European trophies, AC Milan are Italy’s most successful club. The Rossoneri have won seven European Cups/Champions League trophies, two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups, and five European/UEFA Super Cups. Although AC Milan trail Juventus in the number of Scudetti won, they have conquered Europe on more occasions than their Italian rival.
AC Milan were founded in 1899 by English expats Herbert Kilpin and Alfred Edwards. The club’s history of being founded by Englishmen is showcased today in the AC Milan badge - the St. George’s Cross can be found on the badge alongside AC Milan’s famous red and black stripes.
The club’s first of 18 Scudetti was won two years after formation. By the end of 1907, AC Milan had secured three league trophies. In 1908, city rivals Internazionale Milano were formed after members of AC Milan split from the established football club. After the split, AC Milan didn’t win another league title until 1951.
The 1980s and 1990s are often considered the pinnacle of AC Milan’s success in Italy and Europe. Silvio Berlusconi purchased AC Milan in 1986 for €8 million and under his watch, the club signed some of the biggest names in football and won trophy after trophy.
Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten were just two of the major names Berlusconi brought to the club. In 2017, Berlusconi sold the club to Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux. The Chinese ownership was unable to keep up with the costs of the club and sold AC Milan to Elliott Management Corporation in 2018. Since then, AC Milan have become more financially stable.

AC Milan Players
The big names of the past are no longer at AC Milan; however, the clubs still have a number of stars in the ranks. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is AC Milan’s top player despite turning 40-years-old in 2021. Ibrahimovic returned to AC Milan in 2020 for a second spell. Since returning to the San Siro, Ibrahimovic has scored an incredible 33 goals in 56 appearances.
This season, Ibrahimovic will play alongside attacking players Ante Rebic and Samu Castillejo. Meanwhile, new goalkeeper Mike Maignan will take over for the departed Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Rossoneri may not have the squad of decades past, but silverware may not be too far away for the side.

AC Milan Managers
AC Milan have always been one of the top managerial jobs in football. Even when the club have suffered financial issues, it is a prestigious appointment coaches seek. Arrigo Sacchi is perhaps the most famous coach the club have had. Sacchi won eight major trophies at AC Milan, including two European Cups in back-to-back seasons.
Fabio Capello is another great to grace the Rossoneri sideline. He won four Scudetti with AC Milan and a Champions League. Massimiliano Allegri is the most recent AC Milan coach to win a Scudetto. He went on to further success with Juventus after being dismissed at the San Siro.
