Leicester v Chelsea TipsRoss Casey - 13:01, 11th January 2017
There’s a big match in the Premier League this Saturday evening when Leicester City host the side they won the title from last season, Chelsea. Former Fox N’Golo Kante returns to the King Power for the first time, too – which will add some extra spice to this fixture after he was left out of the EFL Cup game earlier this season. Ross Casey offers his Premier League betting tips…
Leicester v Chelsea Tips
Who are the favourites?
Despite failing to break the record winning run streak in Premier League history the other week when Chelsea lost at Tottenham, Chelsea have been made the 13/20 odds on favourites to beat the Premier League champions at the King Power this weekend.
These sides have already actually met in the EFL Cup where Leicester threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 and then lose in extra-time thanks to Cesc Fabregas, so are they too short a price at 13/20 to win? Especially as they were 11/10 back in September!
Leicester have had a very disappointing season after their out of this world performance last time out. They are also missing key players Riyad Mahrez, Daniel Amartey and Islam Slimani due to the Africa Nations Cup (read my preview for that here). Those players account for nine goals and six assists this season!
However, Claudio Ranieri was unbeaten against his former side last season too, winning 2-1 at the King Power and drawing 1-1 at Stamford Bridge, so they have recent history on their side. You can back them in the full-time result market with a best price of 5/1.
What’s your recommended bet?
My recommended Leicester v Chelsea betting verdict is to back Diego Costa at a best price of evens. Diego Costa has scored in two of his three Premier League games against the Foxes, though both goals have been at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester have conceded in six of their last seven home games and won’t fancy facing the Premier League top scorer here! He loves to get involved in physical encounters and will relish facing both Robert Huth and Wes Morgan and he will have the likes of Eden Hazard and Pedro supplying great service for him.
