“Thankfully we have some excellent racing from Ireland again this Sunday, including the group one Phoenix Stakes, won last year by Caravaggio. We also have the group three Phoenix Sprint Stakes over six furlongs, so let’s get started.” JJ
I’m a big fan of Frozen Angel but I’m not sure he wants this step up to six furlongs – saying that he’s still worth a small bet each way on ground which will suit.
However, I feel like BECKFORD (11/8, DOUBLE STAKES) could be incredibly good. He’s two from two in his short career to date and I still think his Railway Stakes win was the most impressive two-year-old victory this season.
He travelled into the race like an absolute monster and then put it to bed half a furlong out for an easy length victory. What’s more, he will more than likely come on again for the run; Gordon Elliot could unbelievably have a top, top class two-year-old on his hands.
BECKFORD – BET NOW
This does not like the best renewal of the Phoenix Stakes Sprint and for that reason I’m letting KOROPICK run with my money.
He first caught the eye when a staying on second behind one of the sprinters of the season Battaash at Sandown over five, a trip that is probably short enough.
He then won at Newcastle on the all-weather and the soft ground definitely went against him last time.
Back on fast ground and over six furlongs I expect him to carry on his progressive form and give Hugo Palmer a winner in Ireland.
