The Australian Open 2023 final is set as Stefanos Tsitsipas will play Novak Djokovic for the first Grand Slam tournament trophy of the season. Tsitsipas will compete in his first-ever Australian Open final after securing a semifinal 3-1 win over Karen Khachanov. Tsitsipas reached the Aussie Open semifinals for the third straight season but it wasn’t until this year that the Greek player qualified for the final.

Djokovic is playing as a man possessed. The Serbian has dropped just one set in six matches at the Australian Open. He defeated American Tommy Paul in the semifinals to reach the trophy match on Sunday.

Paul was overwhelmed and outmatched by Djokovic in the semifinal. Djokovic won the semifinal 7-5, 6-1, and 6-2. The Serbian is having a tremendous start to the 2023 season. He won the Adelaide International 1 tournament before starting the Aussie Open. He is now 11-0 in 2023 ahead of the final against Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas has never won a Grand Slam tournament. He is on the cusp of winning his first major trophy but has to defeat the king of the Australian Open to do it. Djokovic is seeking his 10th Australian Open title on Sunday.

Tsitsipas and Djokovic have played 12 times previously. The players are familiar with each other, which may give Tsitsipas the chance to upset the nine-time Aussie Open winner. He will need as much help as possible against Djokovic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic Betting Odds

Djokovic started the Australian Open as the outright winner favourite to lift the trophy. With several big names going down earlier on, Djokovic avoided matches against Casper Ruud and Rafael Nadal. Now, the Serbian will take on Tsitsipas for the title.

Although Tsitsipas is a capable player and highly praised by the tennis world, Djokovic is a heavy favourite to win the match. Djokovic is at odds of 2/9 to win the Australian Open title for the 10th time. The Serbian has been on a mission to win the tournament’s trophy after being deported from Australia in 2022. He has a chip on his shoulder and won’t be satisfied until he leaves Melbourne with a 10th Aussie Open title.

Tsitsipas goes into the final at odds of 7/2 to win the match. He has only played in one previous Grand Slam final. Guess who Tsitsipas played in that Grand Slam final? Of course, it was Djokovic as the pair played in the French Open 2021 title match. Djokovic won the match 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, and 6-4. Tsitsipas led two sets to zero in the match, yet Djokovic came back to win the fixture.

Bookmakers have the match going five sets at odds of 11/4. With Djokovic in fine form and losing just one set in six matches in Melbourne, Bookmakers have three sets at odds of 6/5. A four-set match is priced at odds of 13/8.

Djokovic is even money to win the match and both players to win a set. This is a great market for the match, as Tsitsipas showed in the 2021 French Open final that he can win sets from Djokovic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic H2H

Djokovic has won 92 career ATP Tour titles, while Tsitsipas has nine to his name. Djokovic has won 1,036 matches compared to Tsitsipas’s 253. What Tsitsipas lacks in experience, he could make up for in youthful exuberance. The Greek has had plenty of break-out chances previously in Grand Slams but has come up short on almost all other occasions.

Tsitsipas and Djokovic have played 12 times previously on the ATP Tour. Djokovic won 10 of those matches, while Tsitsipas picked up two wins. Tsitsipas’s most recent win against Djokovic was in 2019 at the ATP Masters Shanghai event in the tournament’s quarterfinals. Tsitsipas won 6-1 and 6-2 in a major upset.

Since then, Djokovic has won nine consecutive matches versus Tsitsipas. In 2022, the pair played four times with Djokovic winning all four fixtures.

Djokovic played the Adelaide International 1 and progressed through the tournament without a loss. The Serbian beat Constant Lestienne, Quentin Halys, Denis Shapovalov, Daniil Medvedev, and Sebastian Korda to lift the title. Djokovic has now played 11 tournament matches in 2023. He has lost just two sets during that time. Djokovic’s win rate is 84.5% on hardcourt on the ATP Tour before the Aussie Open 2023.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic Betting Tips

Is it Stefanos Tsitsipas’s time to shine and finally win a Grand Slam event? The tennis world has watched the Greek player since he debuted in 2016 expecting big things from him. However, Tsitsipas has disappointed in big matches at major tournaments. This is just his second Grand Slam final on the ATP Tour.

Djokovic has won nine straight matches versus Tsitsipas, which doesn’t bode well for the Greek player. He has struggled throughout the last few years against the Serbian and there is no reason he won’t struggle once more.

There is no arguing that Tsitsipas will be Djokovic’s strongest opponent at the Australian Open. Tommy Paul was no match for Djokovic and isn’t on the same level as Tsitsipas. Djokovic had no trouble seeing off the American.

Tsitsipas has shown in previous matches against Djokovic that he can win sets. The Greek player should take at least one set from Djokovic. However, the Serbian should still outplay Tsitsipas throughout a best-of-five-sets-series. Our betting tips prediction is for Djokovic to win and both players to win a set.

While it is easy to believe Tsitsipas could take Djokovic to five sets, just like in their 2021 French Open final, the Serbian is in some of the best form of his career. Djokovic is 11-0 in matches this season and lost just two sets in those 11 fixtures. Tsitsipas should take one set off Djokovic, but that could be it. Our betting tips prediction is for Djokovic to win 3-1 in a four-set match. Djokovic will get his revenge after being deported from Australia last year and lift a 10th Aussie Open trophy.
