It is an all-Serbian Wimbledon third-round fixture as No. 1 see Novak Djokovic faces off with the No. 25 seed, Miomir Kecmanovic, on Friday. Djokovic reached the third round with ease defeating Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round on Wednesday. The world’s No. 3 ranked player posted a 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Djokovic is aiming for his first Grand Slam title of the year. He had well-documented issues at the Australian Open due to the COVID-19 vaccine. Djokovic followed up the disappointment in Australia at the French Open, where he was eliminated by Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals.

Kecmanovic is ranked No. 30 in the world by the ATP Tour. The 22-year-old is 13 years younger than Djokovic. Despite having youth on his side, Kecmanovic lacks the experience that Djokovic possesses. Kecmanovic didn’t have the strong second-round performance that Djokovic displayed. The 22-year-old went to four sets with unseeded Chilean tennis player Alejandro Tabilo 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Kecmanovic conceded 17 aces to Tabilo in the second round. He will need to improve his defence against Djokovic to have any hope of claiming a victory. Kecmanovic has a strong record this season of 25-14. He hasn’t won a tournament this season on the ATP Tour. Djokovic, on the other hand, has one tournament title and a record of 16-5.

Which player will win this all-Serbian fixture at Wimbledon? Will it be the tennis legend or the up-and-coming star?

Novak Djokovic vs Miomir Kecmanovic H2H

Djokovic and Kecmanovic have played twice on the courts before Friday’s match at Wimbledon. The duo has played twice in the last two years. In 2021, they played at the Serbia Open on outdoor clay. The match was in the quarterfinals with Djokovic claiming a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Their most recent match was played once again at the Serbia Open in 2022. Once again, Djokovic defeated Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals. Kecmanovic won the first set 6-4 before losing the second and third set 3-6 and 3-6 respectively.

Both of Kecmanovic’s matches at Wimbledon went four sets. In both matches, the Serbian played against unseeded players. He will struggle against Djokovic despite being familiar with his compatriot. Kecmanovic is a heavy underdog going into the game and plenty of onlookers expect him to lose in three straight sets.

Kecmanovic’s best event finish this season was in Munich. He reached the semifinals, losing to Botic van de Zandschulp. Other than that semifinal performance, Kecmanovic has failed to get past the last eight in events.

Djokovic has dominated the grass of Wimbledon over the course of the last three tournaments. He went into Wimbledon fresh off of a quarterfinal loss against Nadal at the French Open. Djokovic played excellent during the clay season. Now, on grass, the Serbian star should continue his fine form versus Kecmanovic.

Novak Djokovic vs Miomir Kecmanovic Betting Tips

Djokovic should ease his way into the third round of Wimbledon. The world No. 3 ranked player has two previous wins over Kecmanovic and should post a third in the third round of Wimbledon. Sure, Djokovic had a shaky start against Kwon in the first round. The reigning champion got things together in the second round and now goes into the third match looking like a potential champion.

There is no value in a bet on Djokovic to win the match. The best betting odds on a Djokovic win is 1/25. A wager on Djokovic to win 3-0 makes more sense at the best betting odds of 4/11. Bookies expect this match to go to just three sets at the odds of 1/3.

Kecmanovic is being given few to no chances against Djokovic on Friday. He is at odds of 12/1 to win in the third round. Kecmanovic has previously lost twice against Djokovic. He claimed a set win against Djokovic earlier this year at the Serbia Open. The Serbian tennis player was pushed to four sets in both the first and second rounds.

Our betting tips prediction is for Djokovic to pick up a win on Friday in the third round. Kecmanovic had a poor break point conversion rate in the second round. He was just three out of 13 in break points. Djokovic should ease to victory against Kecmanovic in three straight sets. The reigning champion is in good form and looks like a return to the final could be on the cards.
