Reigning Super Bowl winners, the LA Rams, host the Buffalo Bills to start the NFL season. The two NFL rivals will play at LA’s SoFi Stadium on Thursday Night Football.

The Rams maybe the reigning NFL Super Bowl champions, but it is the Buffalo Bills that are the bookies favourite to win the championship this season. Buffalo are 6/1 to win Super Bowl LVII. The Rams are 11/1 to win the Super Bowl for a second straight season.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of the premier players in the NFL. He posted an 11-6 record with the Bills last season while throwing for 4,407 yards. Allen tossed 36 touchdown passes, one off of his career-best of 37.

The Rams are once again under the leadership of Matt Stafford. The quarterback threw for 4,886 yards in 2021 with 41 touchdowns which tied a career-best. Stafford is carrying an arm injury into the game.

Thursday’s Week 1 match-up between the LA Rams and Buffalo Bills could be a preview of Super Bowl LVII. Which team will take the spoils in Week 1?

LA Rams vs Buffalo Bills Betting Odds

Buffalo go into Week 1 versus the LA Rams as moneyline favourites. The Bills are 20/27 to win the game, while the Rams come into Week 1 at the best betting odds of 23/20. Buffalo topped the AFC East last season with a record of 11-6.

Week 1 is a non-conference game for both teams. Buffalo went 4-1 in games against the NFC last season. The Rams, on the other hand, posted a record of 12-5 in the NFC West. It was a competitive division as three teams in the NFC West finished with record over .500.

The Rams also posted a 4-1 non-conference record. Playing at home should help the Rams in this Week 1 match-up. The bookies seem to be going all-in on Buffalo, but the Rams won’t be easy to defeat. LA went 5-3 at home last season. Buffalo were 5-3 on the road.

Bookies have set the over/under for the game at 52.5 points. The price for both the over/under are at 10/11. Meanwhile, Buffalo is at –2.5 for the spread at 10/11.

LA Rams vs Buffalo Bills Team News

Rams quarterback Matt Stafford has an elbow injury heading into Week 1. However, according to coach Sean McVay, the signal caller won’t have any limitations. It looks like Stafford will start the game, although he is questionable to play.

Wide receiver Brandon Powell is also questionable heading into the game. Daniel Hardy, Logan Bruss, Quentin Lake, Travin Howard, and Xavier Jones are all ruled out of the game due to injuries. Wide receiver Van Jefferson and linebacker Leonard Floyd are also questionable for Week 1.

Buffalo have slightly fewer injuries to contend with. Guard Ike Boettger will be missing from the offensive line. Wide receiver Marquez Stevenson is out with an injury. Fellow receiver Isaiah McKenzie is a doubt to play.

The defensive injuries could limit the options Buffalo have in the secondary. Cornerbacks Tre-Davious White and Cam Lewis are questionable. Safety Jordan Proyer could also miss the game.

Thursday’s NFL season opener is being marketed as the battle of the quarterbacks. Stafford and Allen are two of the NFL’s elite signal callers. Allen is currently the bookies’ favourite to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award at 6/1. Stafford is 14/1 to win the award. Neither player has ever won the NFL MVP trophy.

LA Rams vs Buffalo Bills H2H

The Rams and Bills have played just 13 times previously. Buffalo have shaded the head-to-head with the Rams by a count of eight wins and five defeats. Since 2004, these NFL rivals have only played five times. The Bills won four of the most recent five games versus the Rams.

These teams last met in 2020 in Buffalo. The Bills claimed a 35-32 win. It was Buffalo’s second consecutive win against the LA Rams.

The LA Rams have not had a strong preseason. Just one win was secured from three games in the NFL’s preseason. The Bills posted a record of 2-1 in three preseason games. The NFL preseason doesn’t tell us much about the season to come. It is mostly used to tune players up for the campaign ahead.

LA Rams vs Buffalo Bills Prediction

1. Josh Allen to score a touchdown anytime

Josh Allen ran for six touchdowns last season in the NFL regular season. If Buffalo are in goal line situation, Allen could be used to run the ball in for a touchdown. A close game or noisy crowd could call for a quarterback sneak play with the Bills on the one-yard line.

2. First score method six-way: Buffalo Bills Field Goal

The Bills will be amped up for this game. Buffalo are the favourites to win the Super Bowl. Each player will want to play his hardest to prove they deserve the favourite’s tag. Buffalo should start the game with an impressive drive. Our betting tips prediction is for Buffalo to score first with a field goal. Thursday’s opener should be a game of inches from the start even with two elite quarterbacks.

3. Moneyline: LA Rams

The Buffalo Bills are going to be a strong team this season, but going away and winning at SoFi Stadium won’t be easy. Yes, the Bills have a great head-to-head record against the LA Rams. Four of the last five games between these teams ended as Bills wins. However, our betting tips prediction is for a Rams win on opening day in the NFL.

The Rams are coming off of winning Super Bowl LVI. A strong home record last season should be built on and LA were good against non-conference teams in 2021. The Bills may draw blood first, but the Rams will come back. LA should post a Week 1 victory over the Bills. The win could potentially throw bookies for a loop.
