AC Milan vs Newcastle United Betting Odds, Tips, Predictions, Preview 19th September 2023
AC Milan are getting ready to clash with Newcastle United this coming Tuesday at the San Siro. The match is played out as one of sixteen games in the first round of the Champions League group stage.
Newcastle did well to qualify for the Champions League under the guidance of Eddie Howe, but now they are up against a European giant. And a giant who arrives with fire in their belly after falling prey to a historic slapping at the hands of local rivals Inter on Saturday.
It was an epic 5-1 mauling and the Milan-players need to give a quick answer. Newcastle, on the other hand, ended a three-game losing streak by downing Brentford, thus arriving in Milan in bouyant mood.
AC Milan managed to score 11 goals, while giving away nine in their ten most recent matches in this tournament. They also kept their opponents from scoring five times.
This is the first time in 20 years “The Magpies” take on the Champions League, their latest match coming against Partizan Belgrade in 2003. The last time they faced an Italian opponent was against Juventus in 2002, whom they beat at home but lost in Turin.
AC Milan vs Newcastle United Prediction
AC Milan Form
AC Milan hope to get back to winning ways after first beating Torino by 4-1, before winning 1-2 against Roma. The streak ended in a recent 5-1 defeat against Inter. AC Milan managed a strong return of four wins from their previous six matches on home soil in the Champions League. They drew none though, while losing twice in this series. They scored nine goals and conceded five times.
Newcastle United Form
Newcastle United suffered a couple of disappointments in their last three matches as they were run over by Liverpool in a 1-2 defeat. Brighton also proved too hard to handle as they won 3-1, before Newcastle United were able to strike back in a 1-0 win against Brentford. Newcastle United managed a decent return of three wins in their last six Champions League away matches, in which they scored ten while also conceding ten times. They also experienced one draw and two defeats. Mind you, this was back in 2003.
We trust neither defence to be able to keep their opponent at bay, when AC Milan welcome Newcastle United on Tuesday. Goals should be flowing at both ends of the pitch.
